حَدِيثُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Ubaydullah ibn 'Adi al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 23670
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَدَّثَهُ : أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ ، فَسَارَّهُ يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ فِي قَتْلِ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ ، فَجَهَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ؟ " قَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا شَهَادَةَ لَهُ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ " قَالَ : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا شَهَادَةَ لَهُ ، قال : " أَلَيْسَ يُصَلِّي ؟ " قَالَ : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلَا صَلَاةَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَهَانِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ " ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، يَعْنِي يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ أَن يُسَارُّهُ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Adi narrates from an Ansari companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that he presented himself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and, in a whisper, sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to kill a hypocrite man. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked in a loud voice, "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?" He replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not testify with his heart." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Does he not testify that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not testify with his heart." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Does he not perform prayer?" He replied, "Why not, O Messenger of Allah! But he does not perform prayer with his heart." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah has forbidden me from killing such people."
Hadith 23671
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ الْخِيَارِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ يَعْنِي يَسْتَأْذِنُهُ أَن يُسَارُّهُ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us from al-Zuhri from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi from Ubayd Allah ibn Adi ibn al-Khiyar from Abdullah ibn Adi al-Ansari, who narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was sitting, a man came to him—meaning, seeking permission to speak to him privately—so he mentioned its meaning.
