حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 23484
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بنُ إِبرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بنِ أَبي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنِ ابنِ عَباسٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَقُولُ فِي أَوْلَادِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ هُمْ مِنْهُمْ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَقِيتُهُ فَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " رَبهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بهِمْ ، هُوَ خَلَقَهُمْ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بهِمْ وَبمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that for a time I held the opinion that the children of Muslims would be with the Muslims and the children of the polytheists would be with the polytheists, until such and such a person narrated to me from so-and-so this hadith: that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the children of the polytheists, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah Almighty knows best what deeds they would have done." (Then I met another person and he also told me the same thing, so I withdrew from my opinion.)
