حَدِيثُ امْرَأَةٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا
Hadith of a woman (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 23224
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابنَ إِبرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بنُ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ أَبي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا آكُلُ بشِمَالِي ، وَكُنْتُ امْرَأَةً عَسْرَاءَ ، فَضَرَب يَدِي ، فَسَقَطَتْ اللُّقْمَةُ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَأْكُلِي بشِمَالِكِ وَقَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكِ يَمِينًا " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " وَقَدْ أَطْلَقَ اللَّهُ يَمِينَكِ " ، قَالَتْ : فَتَحَوَّلَتْ شِمَالِي يَمِينِي ، فَمَا أَكَلْتُ بهَا بعْدُ.
It is narrated from a female companion (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my place and I was eating with my left hand. I was a poor woman. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck my hand, causing the morsel to fall, and said, "When Allah has made your right hand, do not eat with your left hand." So I started eating with my right hand, and after that, I never ate with my left hand again.
