حَدِيثُ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا
Hadith of a woman from Banu Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 23221
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ خَالِهِ مُسَافِعٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بنْتِ شَيْبةَ أُمِّ مَنْصُورٍ ، قَالَتْ : أَخْبرَتْنِي امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بنِي سُلَيْمٍ وَلَّدَتْ عَامَّةَ أَهْلِ دَارِنَا ، أَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بنِ طَلْحَةَ ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً : إِنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عُثْمَانَ لِمَ دَعَاكَ النَّبيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنِّي كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ قَرْنَيْ الْكَبشِ حَيْثُ دَخَلْتُ الْبيْتَ ، فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ آمُرَكَ أَنْ تُخَمِّرَهُمَا فَخَمِّرْهُمَا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبغِي أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي الْبيْتِ شَيْءٌ يَشْغَلُ الْمُصَلِّيَ " ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : لَمْ يَزَلْ قَرْنَا الْكَبشِ فِي الْبيْتِ حَتَّى احْتَرَقَ الْبيْتُ فَاحْتَرَقَا.
A woman from Banu Sulaym, who had acted as a midwife for most of the children of Banu Shabiyah, narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent for Uthman bin Talhah through a messenger, or it was that he himself asked Uthman why the Prophet (peace be upon him) had called him. He replied that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When I entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah), I saw two ram's horns there. I forgot to tell you to cover them, so now go and cover them, because it is not appropriate for anything to be in the House of Allah that may distract a worshipper. The narrator says that both horns remained in the Ka'bah, and when the House of Allah caught fire, they too were burnt.
