حَدِيثُ شَيْخٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِيطٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of a shaykh from Banu Sulayt (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 23213
حَدَّثَنَا أَبو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبارَكُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ، أَنَّ شَيْخًا مِنْ بنِي سَلِيطٍ أَخْبرَهُ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُكَلِّمُهُ فِي شَيْءٍ أُصِيب لَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَاعِدٌ ، وَعَلَيْهِ حَلْقَةٌ قَدْ أَطَافَتْ بهِ ، وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ الْقَوْمَ ، عَلَيْهِ إِزَارُ قُطْنٍ لَهُ غَلِيظٌ ، فَأَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يُشِيرُ بإِصْبعَيْهِ : " الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ ، لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يَخْذُلُهُ ، التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا ، التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا " ، يَقُولُ : أَيْ فِي الْقَلْب.
It is narrated from a Sheikh of Banu Sulayt that once I presented myself before the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to discuss those of my captives who had been captured during the time of ignorance. At that time, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated and people had formed a circle around him. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a thick lower garment. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was gesturing with his fingers. I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he neither oppresses him nor leaves him helpless. Taqwa is here, Taqwa is here, that is, in the heart.
Hadith 23214
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بنُ سَعْدٍ أَبو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بنُ زَكَرِيَّا يَعْنِي ابنَ أَبي زَائِدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بنُ طَارِقٍ ، عَنْ بلَالِ بنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنِ عِمْرَانَ بنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبرَنِي أَعْرَابيٌّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى قُرَيْشٍ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهَا " ، قُلْتُ : مَا لَهُمْ ؟ قَالَ : " أَشِحَّةٌ نَحِرَةٌ ، وَإِنْ طَالَ بكَ عُمْرٌ ، لَتَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَيْهِمْ يَفْتِنُونَ النَّاسَ ، حَتَّى تَرَى النَّاسَ بيْنَهُمْ كَالْغَنَمِ بيْنَ الْحَوْضَيْنِ ، إِلَى هَذَا مَرَّةً ، وَإِلَى هَذَا مَرَّةً " .
It is narrated from a Bedouin companion, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "I fear for the Quraysh from among themselves." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What do you mean?" The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you live long, you will see them here, and you will find the common people among them like sheep between two water troughs, sometimes going this way and sometimes that way."
Hadith 23215
حَدَّثَنَا الزُبيْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ مَعْبدِ بنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَبدِ اللَّهِ بنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، أَوْ عُمَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي زَوْجُ ابنَةِ أَبي لَهَب ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تَزَوَّجْتُ ابنَةَ أَبي لَهَب ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ مِنْ لَهْوٍ ؟ " .
The husband of the daughter of Abu Lahab says that when I married the daughter of Abu Lahab, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: "Is there any arrangement for entertainment?"
Hadith 23216
حَدَّثَنَا أَبو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بنُ أَبي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيَّةُ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، أَنَّ أَباهُ أَخْبرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا شَيْءَ فِي الْهَامِ ، وَالْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ ، وَأَصْدَقُ الطِّيَرِ الْفَأْلُ " .
Hiyyah Tamimi (may Allah have mercy on him) reports from his father that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: There is no reality in anything being inside the skull of the dead; the evil eye is true, and the truest omen is a good omen.
Hadith 23217
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبانُ ، وَعَبدُ الصَّمَدِ , حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ بعْضِ أَصْحَاب النَّبيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : بيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ مُسْبلٌ إِزَارَهُ ، إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ النَّبيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اذْهَب فَتَوَضَّأْ " ، قَالَ : فَذَهَب فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اذْهَب فَتَوَضَّأْ " ، قَالَ : فَذَهَب فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَكَ أَمَرْتَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ سَكَتَّ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ كَانَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ مُسْبلٌ إِزَارَهُ ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَقْبلُ صَلَاةَ عَبدٍ مُسْبلٍ إِزَارَهُ " .
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man was performing prayer with his lower garment hanging below his ankles. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Go and perform ablution again." He gave this command twice, and each time the man performed ablution and returned. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the matter that at first you commanded him to perform ablution and then remained silent?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "He was performing prayer with his lower garment hanging below his ankles, and Allah Almighty does not accept the prayer of such a person."
