حَدِيثُ أَبِي شَهْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu Shahm (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22511
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُرَيْمُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي شَهْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : مَرَّتْ بِي جَارِيَةٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِكَشْحِهَا ، قَالَ : وَأَصْبَحَ الرَّسُولُ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُهُ ، فَلَمْ يُبَايِعْنِي ، فَقَالَ : " صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ ! قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَاللَّهِ لَا أَعُودُ , قَالَ : " فَبَايَعَنِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Shahm (may Allah be pleased with him) that once in Madinah Munawwarah, a slave girl passed by me and I caught her by her side. The next day, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to take allegiance from the people, and I also presented myself. But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take allegiance from me and said, "Are you the one who pulled the slave girl?" I submitted, "By Allah! I will never do such a thing again." Thereupon, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also took allegiance from me.
Hadith 22512
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ بَيَانِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي شَهْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَجُلًا بَطَّالًا ، قَالَ : فَمَرَّتْ بِي جَارِيَةٌ فِي بَعْضِ طُرُقِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، إِذْ هَوَيْتُ إِلَى كَشْحِهَا ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْغَدُ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَى النَّاسُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَايِعُونَهُ ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَبَسَطْتُ يَدِي لِأُبَايِعَهُ ، فَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ ، وَقَالَ : " أَحْسِبُكَ صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ يَعْنِي : أَمَا إِنَّكَ صَاحِبُ الْجُبَيْذَةِ أَمْسِ " , قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بَايِعْنِي ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَا أَعُودُ أَبَدًا , قَالَ : " فَنَعَمْ إِذًا " .

But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take allegiance from me and said, "Are you the one who pulled the slave girl?" I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Please accept my allegiance. By Allah, I will never do such a thing again." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then it is fine."
