حَدِيثُ ابْنِ حَوَالَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Ibn Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22487
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ زُغْبٍ الْإِيَادِيّ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : نَزَلَ عَلَيَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيُّ ، فَقَالَ لِي : وَإِنَّهُ لَنَازِلٌ عَلَيَّ فِي بَيْتِي بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى أَقْدَامِنَا لِنَغْنَمَ ، فَرَجَعْنَا وَلَمْ نَغْنَمْ شَيْئًا ، وَعَرَفَ الْجَهْدَ فِي وُجُوهِنَا ، فَقَامَ فِينَا ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَكِلْهُمْ إِلَيَّ فَأَضْعُفَ ، وَلَا تَكِلْهُمْ إِلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَيَعْجِزُوا عَنْهَا ، وَلَا تَكِلْهُمْ إِلَى النَّاسِ فَيَسْتَأْثِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ " , ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لَيُفْتَحَنَّ لَكُمْ الشَّامُ , وَالرُّومُ , وَفَارِسُ ، أَوْ الرُّومُ , وَفَارِسُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَمِنْ الْبَقَرِ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَمِنْ الْغَنَمِ ، حَتَّى يُعْطَى أَحَدُهُمْ مِائَةَ دِينَارٍ فَيَسْخَطَهَا " , ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِي أَوْ هَامَتِي ، فَقَالَ : " يَا ابْنَ حَوَالَةَ ، إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الْخِلَافَةَ قَدْ نَزَلَتْ الْأَرْضَ الْمُقَدَّسَةَ ، فَقَدْ دَنَتْ الزَّلَازِلُ وَالْبَلَايَا وَالْأُمُورُ الْعِظَامُ ، وَالسَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى النَّاسِ مِنْ يَدَيَّ هَذِهِ مِنْ رَأْسِكَ " .
Ibn Zaghb Ayadi says that once Abdullah bin Hawalah stayed as a guest at my place. During this time, on one occasion, he said that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sent us on foot with a detachment around Madinah Munawwarah so that we might obtain spoils of war, but when we returned, we had not received any spoils, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) noticed the signs of hardship on our faces. Therefore, standing among us, he said: O Allah! Do not hand them over to other people so that they may overpower them. Then he said: Soon, Syria, Rome, and Persia will be conquered at your hands, until each one of you will have so many camels, cows, and goats, to the extent that if someone is given even a hundred dinars, he will be displeased. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) placed his hand on my head and said: O Ibn Hawalah! When you see that the caliphate has reached the Holy Land, then know that earthquakes, tribulations, and great matters have drawn near, and at that time the Hour will come so close to the people as my hand is close to your head—rather, even closer.
Hadith 22488
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ التُّجِيبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ نَجَا مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ فَقَدْ نَجَا " , قَالَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، قَالُوا : مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " مَوْتِي ، وَمِنْ قَتْلِ خَلِيفَةٍ مُصْطَبِرٍ بِالْحَقِّ يُعْطِيهِ ، وَالدَّجَّالِ " .
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Hawalah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is saved from three things is indeed saved (he said this three times). The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: What are they, O Messenger of Allah? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My death, the killing of a steadfast caliph upon the truth, and the Dajjal.
Hadith 22489
حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزٌ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " سَيَكُونُ أَجْنَادٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ شَامٌ , وَيَمَنٌ , وَعِرَاقٌ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَيِّهَا بَدَأَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ ، أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ ، أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ ، فَمَنْ كَرِهَ فَعَلَيْهِ بِيَمَنِهِ ، وَلْيَسْقِ فِي غُدُرِهِ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَوَكَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Soon there will be many armies in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. Allah knows best which city the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned first. However, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: Make Syria obligatory upon yourselves. Whoever cannot do so should go to Yemen and drink from its wells, because Allah Almighty has taken responsibility for Syria and the people of Syria for my sake.
