حَدِيثُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Sa'd ibn Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22456
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عِيسَى ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أَمِيرِ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَّا أَتَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَغْلُولًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يُطْلِقُهُ إِلَّا الْعَدْلُ ، وَمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَتَعَلَّمُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ نَسِيَهُ إِلَّا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَجْذَمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has been the leader of ten people will come on the Day of Resurrection with his hands bound, and nothing will release them except his justice. And whoever learned the Noble Qur'an and then forgot it, he will meet Allah as a leper.
Hadith 22457
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ , أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ مَاذَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ ؟ قَالَ : " فِيهِ خَمْسُ خِلَالٍ : فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ ، وَفِيهِ هَبَطَ آدَمُ ، وَفِيهِ تُوُفِّيَ آدَمُ ، وَفِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ عَبْدٌ فِيهَا شَيْئًا إِلَّا آتَاهُ اللَّهُ إِيَّاهُ مَا لَمْ يَسْأَلْ مَأْثَمًا أَوْ قَطِيعَةَ رَحِمٍ ، وَفِيهِ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ ، مَا مِنْ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ وَلَا سَمَاءٍ وَلَا أَرْضٍ وَلَا جِبَالٍ وَلَا حَجَرٍ ، إِلَّا وَهُوَ يُشْفِقُ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Saad bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari man came to him and asked, "Tell us what goodness has been placed in the day of Friday?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There are five important things regarding it: On this day, Hazrat Adam was created; on this day, Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) was sent down from Paradise; on this day, Allah took the soul of Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him); on this day, there is an hour in which whatever a servant asks from Allah, Allah surely grants it, provided he does not ask for something sinful or for breaking ties of kinship; and on this day, the Day of Judgment will be established. There is no close angel, earth, sky, mountain, or stone that does not fear the day of Friday."
Hadith 22458
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " دُلَّنِي عَلَى صَدَقَةٍ ؟ قَالَ : " اسْقِ الْمَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Saad bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me of a charitable deed." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Give water to drink."
Hadith 22459
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ , أَنَّ أُمَّهُ مَاتَتْ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ فَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " , قَالَ : فَأَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : سَقْيُ الْمَاءِ " , قَالَ : فَتِلْكَ سِقَايَةُ آلِ سَعْدٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother passed away, so he submitted to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! My mother has passed away. Can I give charity on her behalf?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes!" He asked, "Then which charity is the best?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Providing water to drink." The narrator says that this is the real reason for the family of Sa'd providing water in Madinah Munawwarah.
Hadith 22460
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّهُمْ وَجَدُوا فِي كُتُبِ أَوْ فِي كِتَابِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ مَعَ الشَّاهِدِ " .
Qais bin Sa'd says that he also found in the writings of Hazrat Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a verdict by taking an oath along with one witness.
Hadith 22461
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لَهُ : " قُمْ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ ، وَانْظُرْ لَا تَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِبَكْرٍ تَحْمِلُهُ عَلَى عَاتِقِكَ أَوْ عَلَى كَاهِلِكَ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " , قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، اصْرِفْهَا عَنِّي , فَصَرَفَهَا عَنْهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Supervise and look after the charity of such-and-such tribe, but do not come on the Day of Resurrection in such a state that you are carrying a young camel on your shoulder and it is crying out. He submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Then assign this responsibility to someone else." Thus, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took back this responsibility from him.
Hadith 22462
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي شُمَيْلَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ رَدَّهُ إِلَى سَعِيدٍ الصَّرَّافِ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ هَذَا الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مِحْنَةٌ حُبُّهُمْ إِيمَانٌ ، وَبُغْضُهُمْ نِفَاقٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This tribe of the Ansar is a trial; love for them is a sign of faith and hatred for them is a sign of hypocrisy."
Hadith 22463
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ فَائدٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ أَمِيرِ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَّا يُؤْتَى بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَغْلُولٌ لَا يَفُكُّهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْغُلِّ إِلَّا الْعَدْلُ ، وَمَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ فَنَسِيَهُ إِلَّا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ يَوْمَ يَلْقَاهُ وَهُوَ أَجْذَمُ " .
