وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
And from the hadith of Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 22362
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ , وَحَجَّاجٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَبِيلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقرِئَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : عَنْ أَبِي قَبِيلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُبْلَانِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ " مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ سورة الزمر آية 53 " , فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَمَنْ أَشْرَكَ ؟ فَسَكَتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِلَّا مَنْ أَشْرَكَ ، إِلَّا مَنْ أَشْرَكَ " ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Even if I were given the world and whatever is in it in exchange for this verse, I would not like it: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves..." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling for one who commits shirk (associates partners with Allah)?" At this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Then after a short while, he said three times, "Except for the polytheist."
Hadith 22363
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُحَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدٌ الشَّامِيُّ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَنْبِهِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَافَرَ آخِرُ عَهْدِهِ بِإِنْسَانٍ مَنْ أَهْلهِ فَاطِمَةُ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا قَدِمَ فَاطِمَةُ ، قَالَ : فَقَدِمَ مِنْ غَزَاةٍ لَهُ فَأَتَاهَا ، فَإِذَا هُوَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى بَابِهَا ، وَرَأَى عَلَى الْحَسَنِ , وَالْحُسَيْنِ قَلْبَيْنِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، فَرَجَعَ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ ذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةُ ظَنَّتْ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ أَجْلِ مَا رَأَى ، فَهَتَكَتْ السِّتْرَ ، وَنَزَعَتْ الْقَلْبَيْنِ مِنَ الصَّبِيَّيْنِ ، فَقَطَعَتْهُمَا ، فَبَكَى الصَّبِيَّانِ ، فَقَسَمَتْهُ بَيْنَهُمَا ، فَانْطَلَقَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُمَا يَبْكِيَانِ ، فَأَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهُمَا ، فَقَالَ : " يَا ثَوْبَانُ ، اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى بَنِي فُلَانٍ أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، وَاشْتَرِ لِفَاطِمَةَ قِلَادَةً مِنْ عَصَبٍ ، وَسِوَارَيْنِ مِنْ عَاجٍ ، فَإِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي ، وَلَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا طَيِّبَاتِهِمْ فِي حَيَاتِهِمْ الدُّنْيَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey, the last person from his family whom he would meet was Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and when he returned from a journey, the first person he would visit was also Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her). Once, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a battle and, as usual, went to Hazrat Fatimah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) house. When he arrived, he saw a curtain at the door of the house and silver bangles on the hands of Hasan and Husain (may Allah be pleased with them). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned back without entering the house. Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) realized that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had turned back after seeing these things, so she tore the curtain and broke the bangles off the children’s hands. The two children began to cry and, while crying, went to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the bangles—which Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) had given to them—and said to Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him): O Thawban! Take these to the house of so-and-so (referring to a family among the people of Madinah) and buy a Yemeni necklace and two ivory bangles for Fatimah, for these people are my Ahl al-Bayt, and I do not want them to consume their good things in this world, even if they are lawful.
Hadith 22364
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى , وَأَبُو الْيَمَانِ , وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ إِسْحَاقَ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْأُمْلُوكِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ : " إِنَّا مُدْلِجُونَ ، فَلَا يُدْلِجَنَّ مُصْعِبٌ وَلَا مُضْعِفٌ " , فَأَدْلَجَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لَهُ صَعْبَةٍ فَسَقَطَ ، فَانْدَقَّتْ فَخِذُهُ فَمَاتَ ، فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي فِي النَّاسِ : " إِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ لَا تَحِلُّ لِعَاصٍ ، إِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ لَا تَحِلُّ لِعَاصٍ " ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, during one of his journeys, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We will set out on the journey at night, so no one should ride on a wild or weak animal." Despite this instruction, a man mounted a rebellious she-camel. Along the way, he fell somewhere, his thigh bone broke, and he died. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the people to perform his funeral prayer themselves, then ordered a caller to announce among the people: "Paradise is not lawful for any disobedient person." He said this three times.
Hadith 22365
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ شَدَّادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ ، اسْتَغْفَرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and then make this supplication: O Allah! You are the True Source of peace, and from You alone comes peace. O Possessor of Majesty and Honor! Your Being is greatly blessed.
Hadith 22366
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ يَتَكَفَّلُ لِي بِوَاحِدَةٍ وَأَتَكَفَّلُ لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ؟ " قَالَ ثَوْبَانُ : أَنَا ، قَالَ : " لَا تَسْأَلْ النَّاسَ " , يَعْنِي شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : فَكَانَ لَا يَسْأَلُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever guarantees me one thing, I guarantee him Paradise. Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) offered himself. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ask people for anything. He submitted: Alright. Thus, after that, he never asked anyone for anything.
Hadith 22367
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ المُهَاجِرِ ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ اللَّخْمِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْحَبَشِيِّ ، فَحُمِلَ إِلَيْهِ عَلَى الْبَرِيدِ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْحَوْضِ ، فَقُدِمَ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ ، فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ثَوْبَانَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ حَوْضِي مِنْ عَدَنَ إِلَى عَمَّانَ الْبَلْقَاءِ ، مَاؤُهُ أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ ، وَأَكَاوِيبُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ ، مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا ، أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ وُرُودًا عَلَيْهِ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ " , فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ : مَنْ هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " هُمْ الشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا ، الدُّنْسُ ثِيَابًا ، الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ وَلَا تُفْتَحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السُّدَدِ " , فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ : لَقَدْ نَكَحْتُ الْمُتَنَعِّمَاتِ ، وَفُتِحَتْ لِي السُّدَدُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَرْحَمَنِي اللَّهُ ، وَاللَّهِ لَا جَرَمَ أَنْ لَا أَدْهُنَ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ ، وَلَا أَغْسِلَ ثَوْبِي الَّذِي يَلِي جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ.
Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, once sent a message through a courier to Abu Salam Habashi, may Allah have mercy on him. He wanted to ask Abu Salam about the Hawd (Pond) of Kawthar. So he came. Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, asked him about it. He said, "I heard this hadith from Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, that I heard the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'The length and width of my Hawd is as much as the distance between Aden and Amman Balqa. Its water will be whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Its cups will be as numerous as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks a sip from it will never feel thirsty again. The first to come to this Hawd will be the poor Muhajireen.' Hazrat Umar Farooq, may Allah be pleased with him, upon hearing this, submitted in the court of the Prophet, 'O Messenger of Allah! Who will those people be?' The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, replied, 'They will be those whose hair is disheveled and whose clothes are dirty, who could not marry women brought up in luxury, and for whom closed doors are not opened.' Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, upon hearing this, said, 'I have married women brought up in luxury, and closed doors are opened for me. Now only Allah can have mercy on me. By Allah, from now on I will not apply oil to my head until it becomes disheveled, and I will not wash the clothes I wear on my body until they become dirty.'"
Hadith 22368
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ مِنْ كِتَابِهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْخٌ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ قَتَلَ صَغِيرًا أَوْ كَبِيرًا ، أَوْ أَحْرَقَ نَخْلًا ، أَوْ قَطَعَ شَجَرَةً مُثْمِرَةً ، أَوْ ذَبَحَ شَاةً لِإِهَابِهَا ، لَمْ يَرْجِعْ كَفَافًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Whoever kills a minor child or an extremely elderly man in the battlefield, or sets fire to a garden, or cuts down a fruit-bearing tree, or slaughters a goat merely to obtain its skin, then he has not returned equally (i.e., he has not returned with equal recompense).
Hadith 22369
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ , وَأَبَانُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ ، دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ الْكِبْرِ ، وَالدَّيْنِ ، وَالْغُلُولِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever's soul departs from his body in such a state that he is free from three things will enter Paradise: arrogance, debt, and dishonesty regarding war booty.
Hadith 22370
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِثَوْبَانَ , حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : تَكْذِبُونَ عَلَيَّ ! وَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، أَوْ حَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " .
Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a person asked Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) to narrate a hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He replied, "You people attribute lies to me as you do to others. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whenever any Muslim performs a prostration for the sake of Allah's pleasure, Allah raises him one degree and forgives one of his sins.'"
Hadith 22371
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The fast of both the one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied is broken.
Hadith 22372
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجُودِيِّ ، عَنْ بَلْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ قَاصَّ النَّاسِ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِثَوْبَانَ : حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ " .
Abu Shabiyah Mehri, may Allah have mercy on him, who used to preach in Constantinople, says: Once a person requested Hazrat Thawban, may Allah be pleased with him, to narrate a hadith from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. He replied: I have seen that once the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, vomited, so the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, broke his fast.
Hadith 22373
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا عَادَ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ ، فَهُوَ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim man visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks in the gardens of Paradise.
Hadith 22374
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ : مَا ثَوْبَانُ ؟ قَالَ : مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يَتَكَفَّلَ لِي أَنْ لَا يَسْأَلَ شَيْئًا ، وَأَتَكَفَّلُ لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ؟ " , فَقَالَ ثَوْبَانُ : أَنَا , فَكَانَ لَا يَسْأَلُ أَحَدًا شَيْئًا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever guarantees me one thing, I guarantee him Paradise. Hadith 22375
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِذَا عَادَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ ، فَإِنَّهُ فِي أَخْرَافِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks among the gardens of Paradise until he returns.
Hadith 22376
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ تَبِعَ جَنَازَةً ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ " , قِيلَ : وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a funeral will receive the reward of one qirat, and whoever remains until the burial will receive the reward of two qirats. Someone asked, "What is a qirat?" He replied, "Its minimum measure is equal to Mount Uhud."
Hadith 22377
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْمُعَيْطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَعْدَانُ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْيَعْمُرِيُّ ، قَالَ : لَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ أَعْمَلُهُ يُدْخِلُنِي اللَّهُ بِهِ الْجَنَّةَ ، أَوْ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : بِأَحَبِّ الْأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ فَسَكَتَ ، ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ الثَّالِثَةَ ، فَقَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ " عَلَيْكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ ، فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً إِلَّا رَفَعَكَ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، وَحَطَّ عَنْكَ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " , قَالَ مَعْدَانُ : ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ لِي : مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ لِي ثَوْبَانُ.
Ma'dan Ya'mari (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I met Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), so I requested, "Please tell me of a deed that is most beloved to Allah, by virtue of which Allah will admit me into Paradise." At this, he remained silent. After I asked three times and he remained silent, he said, "I also asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) this same question, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Make abundant prostration (sujood) obligatory upon yourself, for whenever you perform a prostration for the sake of Allah's pleasure, Allah will raise you one degree and erase one sin because of it.'" Ma'dan says, "Then I met Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him the same question, and he gave me the same answer that Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) had given."
Hadith 22378
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اسْتَقِيمُوا وَلَنْ تُحْصُوا ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ خَيْرَ أَعْمَالِكُمْ الصَّلَاةُ ، وَلَنْ يُحَافِظَ عَلَى الْوُضُوءِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain steadfast, for you will never be able to encompass all deeds. However, remember that your best deed is prayer, and only a believer maintains regular ablution.
Hadith 22379
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ سَأَلَتْ زَوْجَهَا الطَّلَاقَ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَا بَأْسٍ ، فَحَرَامٌ عَلَيْهَا رَائِحَةُ الْجَنَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any woman who seeks divorce from her husband without a specific reason, the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden for her.
Hadith 22380
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ دِينَارٍ دِينَارٌ أَنْفَقَهُ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ ، أَوْ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، أَوْ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best dinar is the one which a man spends on his family, or spends on his mount in the way of Allah, or spends on his companions in the way of Allah.
Hadith 22381
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ " , قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا صَبَبْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَضُوءَهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited, due to which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast. The narrator says that once I met Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Prophet's Mosque, so I asked him about this as well. He said that I was pouring water for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for ablution.
Hadith 22382
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَحْتَجِمُ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَقَالَ " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was having cupping done during the month of Ramadan. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who does cupping and the one who gets it done, both their fasts are broken.
Hadith 22383
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَرِيَّةً فَأَصَابَهُمْ الْبَرْدُ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ مِنَ الْبَرْدِ ، " فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَمْسَحُوا عَلَى الْعَصَائِبِ وَالتَّسَاخِينِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army somewhere. On the way, the season turned cold. When those people returned to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they complained to him about the hardship caused by the severity of the cold. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed them to wipe over their turbans and leather socks.
Hadith 22384
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ ، فَإِنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا ، فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ ، الْقِيرَاطُ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a funeral will receive one qirat of reward, and whoever remains until the burial will receive two qirats, and the measure of one qirat is equal to Mount Uhud.
Hadith 22385
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ يَتَقَبَّلُ لِي بِوَاحِدَةٍ وَأَتَقَبَّلُ لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَنَا , قَالَ : لَا تَسْأَلْ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا " , فَكَانَ ثَوْبَانُ يَقَعُ سَوْطُهُ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ ، فَلَا يَقُولُ لِأَحَدٍ : نَاوِلْنِيهِ ، حَتَّى يَنْزِلَ فَيَتَنَاوَلَهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever guarantees me one thing, I will guarantee him Paradise. Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) offered himself. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ask people for anything. He replied: Alright. So after that, he never asked anyone for anything, even if he was riding and his whip fell, he would not ask anyone to pick it up; he would get down himself and pick it up.
Hadith 22386
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُحْرَمُ الرِّزْقَ بِالذَّنْبِ يُصِيبُهُ ، وَلَا يَرُدُّ الْقَدَرَ إِلَّا الدُّعَاءُ ، وَلَا يَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا الْبِرُّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sometimes a person is deprived of sustenance because of a sin that he commits, and nothing can avert destiny except supplication, and nothing increases life except righteousness.
Hadith 22387
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الرَّايَاتِ السُّودَ قَدْ جَاءَتْ مِنْ خُرَاسَانَ فَأْتُوهَا ، فَإِنَّ فِيهَا خَلِيفَةَ اللَّهِ الْمَهْدِيَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see black flags coming from the direction of Khurasan, then join them, for among them will be Allah's Caliph, Imam Mahdi (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 22388
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اسْتَقِيمُوا لِقُرَيْشٍ مَا اسْتَقَامُوا لَكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as the Quraysh remain upright with you, you also remain upright with them."
Hadith 22389
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي خُرْفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ " , قِيلَ : وَمَا خُرْفَةُ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : " جَنَاهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim visits his Muslim brother who is ill, he walks among the gardens of Paradise until he returns.
Hadith 22390
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ : الْكِبْرِ ، وَالْغُلُولِ ، وَالدَّيْنِ ، فَهُوَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " , أَوْ " وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever's soul departs from his body in such a state that he is free from three things, he will enter Paradise: arrogance, debt, and dishonesty in war booty.
Hadith 22391
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : ذَبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُضْحِيَّةً ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا ثَوْبَانُ ، أَصْلِحْ لَحْمَ هَذِهِ الشَّاةِ " , قَالَ : فَمَا زِلْتُ أُطْعِمُهُ مِنْهَا حَتَّى قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a sacrificial animal and said, "Thawban! Take good care of this goat's meat." So I continued to serve its meat to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until he arrived in Madinah Munawwarah.
Hadith 22392
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ ابْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا أُنْزِلَتْ الَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلا يُنْفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ سورة التوبة آية 34 , قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ : قَدْ نَزَلَ فِي الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ مَا نَزَلَ ، فَلَوْ أَنَّا عَلِمْنَا أَيُّ الْمَالِ خَيْرٌ اتَّخَذْنَاهُ فَقَالَ : " أَفْضَلُهُ لِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا ، وَقَلْبًا شَاكِرًا ، وَزَوْجَةً مُؤْمِنَةً تُعِينُهُ عَلَى إِيمَانِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed: "Those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah..." — he says that at that time we were accompanying the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. So a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: The command regarding gold and silver has been revealed, but if we could know which wealth is best, we would keep that with us. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best wealth is a tongue that remembers (Allah), a grateful heart, and a Muslim wife who helps him in his faith.
Hadith 22393
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I fear misleading leaders for my Ummah.
Hadith 22394
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I fear misleading leaders for my Ummah.

وَبِهِ قَالَ : وَبِهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ أَوْ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَبِّي زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ فَرَأَيْتُ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا ، وَإِنَّ مُلْكَ أُمَّتِي سَيَبْلُغُ مَا زُوِيَ لِي مِنْهَا ، وَإِنِّي أُعْطِيتُ الْكَنْزَيْنِ الْأَحْمَرَ وَالْأَبْيَضَ ، وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي لِأُمَّتِي أَنْ لَا يَهْلِكُوا بِسَنَةٍ بِعَامَّةٍ ، وَلَا يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ سِوَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ يَسْتَبِيحُ بَيْضَتَهُمْ " . وَإِنَّ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، قَالَ : " يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، إِنِّي إِذَا قَضَيْتُ قَضَاءً فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُرَدُّ ، وَقَالَ يُونُسُ : لَا يُرَدُّ , وَإِنِّي أَعْطَيْتُكَ لِأُمَّتِكَ أَنْ لَا أُهْلِكَهُمْ بِسَنَةٍ بِعَامَّةٍ ، وَلَا أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ سِوَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ يَسْتَبِيحُ بَيْضَتَهُمْ ، وَلَوْ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْ بَيْنَ أَقْطَارِهَا أَوْ قَالَ : مَنْ بِأَقْطَارِهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ بَعْضُهُمْ يَسْبِي بَعْضًا " " وَإِنَّمَا أَخَافُ عَلَى أُمَّتِي الْأَئِمَّةَ الْمُضِلِّينَ . " وَإِذَا وُضِعَ فِي أُمَّتِي السَّيْفُ لَمْ يُرْفَعْ عَنْهُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَلَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى يَلْحَقَ قَبَائِلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ حَتَّى تَعْبُدَ قَبَائِلُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْأَوْثَانَ ، وَإِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ فِي أُمَّتِي كَذَّابُونَ ثَلَاثُونَ كُلُّهُمْ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ نَبِيٌّ ، وَأَنَا خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّينَ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي ، وَلَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty gathered the entire earth for me, so I saw its east and its west, and the rule of my Ummah will reach as far as the area that was gathered and shown to me. And I was given two treasures, the red and the white. And I requested my Lord for my Ummah that He not destroy it by a general famine, nor impose upon them an external enemy who would annihilate them utterly. So my Lord said: O Muhammad! When I make a decision, none can overturn it. I have accepted your supplication for your Ummah that I will not destroy them by a general famine, nor will I impose upon them an external enemy who will cause widespread slaughter among them, even if their enemies gather against them from all corners of the world, until they themselves begin to destroy one another. And I fear for my Ummah from misguided leaders. And when the sword is placed among my Ummah, it will not be lifted from them until the Day of Resurrection. And the Hour will not be established until some tribes of my Ummah join the polytheists, and until some tribes of my Ummah begin to worship idols. And soon there will appear thirty great liars in my Ummah, each of whom will claim to be a prophet, though I am the last prophet and there will be no prophet after me. And a group from my Ummah will always remain fighting for the truth, always prevailing, and no one who opposes them will be able to harm them until the command of Allah comes.
Hadith 22396
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَالِمٍ , وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنْ لُقْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْوُصَابِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى بْنِ عَدِيٍّ الْبَهْرَانِيِّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " عِصَابَتَانِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي : أَحْرَزَهُمْ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ عِصَابَةٌ تَغْزُو الْهِنْدَ ، وَعِصَابَةٌ تَكُونُ مَعَ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are two groups of my Ummah whom Allah has protected from Hell. One group will wage jihad in India and the other group will be with Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him).
Hadith 22397
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْزُوقٌ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيُّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُوشِكُ أَنْ تَدَاعَى عَلَيْكُمْ الْأُمَمُ مِنْ كُلِّ أُفُقٍ كَمَا تَدَاعَى الْأَكَلَةُ عَلَى قَصْعَتِهَا " , قَالَ : قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ بِنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ ، وَلَكِنْ تَكُونُونَ غُثَاءً كَغُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ يَنْتَزِعُ الْمَهَابَةَ مِنْ قُلُوبِ عَدُوِّكُمْ ، وَيَجْعَلُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ الْوَهْنَ " , قَالَ : قُلْنَا : وَمَا الْوَهْنُ ؟ قَالَ : " حُبُّ الْحَيَاةِ ، وَكَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَوْتِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will soon come when people from every corner of the world, from different nations, will invite one another against you just as people are invited to a dish." We asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Will this happen because our numbers will be few at that time?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "At that time, your numbers will be many, but you will be like the foam or scum on the surface of the sea. The awe of you will be removed from the hearts of your enemies, and 'wahn' will be cast into your hearts." We asked, "What is 'wahn'?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Love of the world and dislike of death."
Hadith 22398
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، أَنَّ جَدَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّ أَبَا أَسْمَاءَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّ ابْنَةَ هُبَيْرَةَ دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي يَدِهَا خَوَاتِيمُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، يُقَالُ لَهَا الْفَتَخُ ، فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَعُ يَدَهَا بِعُصَيَّةٍ مَعَهُ ، يَقُولُ لَهَا : " يَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِي يَدِكِ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ نَارٍ ؟ ! " فَأَتَتْ فَاطِمَةَ فَشَكَتْ إِلَيْهَا مَا صَنَعَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : وَانْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَامَ خَلْفَ الْبَابِ ، وَكَانَ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنَ قَامَ خَلْفَ الْبَابِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَتْ لَهَا فَاطِمَةُ انْظُرِي إِلَى هَذِهِ السِّلْسِلَةِ الَّتِي أَهْدَاهَا إِلَيَّ أَبُو حَسَنٍ قَالَ : وَفِي يَدِهَا سِلْسِلَةٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا فَاطِمَةُ ، بِالْعَدْلِ أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ : فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَفِي يَدِكِ سِلْسِلَةٌ مِنْ نَارٍ ؟ ! " ثُمَّ عَذَمَهَا عَذْمًا شَدِيدًا ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ وَلَمْ يَقْعُدْ ، فَأَمَرَتْ بِالسِّلْسِلَةِ فَبِيعَتْ ، فَاشْتَرَتْ بِثَمَنِهَا عَبْدًا فَأَعْتَقَتْهُ ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَبَّرَ ، وَقَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي نَجَّى فَاطِمَةَ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a woman named Bint Hubayrah came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). She had gold rings on her hand, which were called "futukh." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept moving the rings on her hand with his stick and kept saying, "Do you like that Allah should put rings of fire on your hand?" She then went to Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) and complained about the behavior of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) says that meanwhile, I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the house, he stood behind the door, "which was the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when seeking permission." At that time, Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was saying to that woman, "Look at this chain which Abu Hasan has given me as a gift." She had a gold chain in her hand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the house and said, "O Fatimah, the matter should be just so that tomorrow people do not point fingers at Fatimah bint Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So how is it that you have this chain of fire in your hand?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made her feel intense remorse and left without sitting there. Upon this, Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) ordered that the chain be sold, so it was sold, and with its price, Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) bought a slave and set him free. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he happily said "Allahu Akbar" and said, "Thanks be to Allah, who saved Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) from the fire."
Hadith 22399
حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَيَّاشٍ , عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : " لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّاشِيَ وَالْمُرْتَشِيَ وَالرَّائِشَ " , يَعْنِي : الَّذِي يَمْشِي بَيْنَهُمَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who takes bribes, the one who gives bribes, and the one who mediates between them.
Hadith 22400
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَيْمُونٌ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرئِيُّ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ سَرَّهُ النَّسَاءُ فِي الْأَجَلِ ، وَالزِّيَادَةُ فِي الرِّزْقِ ، فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever desires a long life and abundance in sustenance should maintain the ties of kinship.
Hadith 22401
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَيْمُونٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَلْتَمِسُ مَرْضَاةَ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَزَالُ بِذَلِكَ ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِجِبْرِيلَ : إِنَّ فُلَانًا عَبْدِي يَلْتَمِسُ أَنْ يُرْضِيَنِي ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ رَحْمَتِي عَلَيْهِ ، فَيَقُولُ جِبْرِيلُ : رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى فُلَانٍ ، وَيَقُولُهَا حَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ ، وَيَقُولُهَا مَنْ حَوْلَهُمْ , حَتَّى يَقُولَهَا أَهْلُ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ ، ثُمَّ تَهْبِطُ لَهُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person seeks the pleasure of Allah Almighty and remains persistent in it, Allah Almighty says to Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him): "My such-and-such servant is seeking My pleasure; be aware that My mercy is directed towards him." Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) says, "May Allah's mercy be upon such-and-such person." The bearers of the Throne also say the same, and the angels around them also begin to say the same, until the inhabitants of the seven heavens begin to say the same. Then this matter is sent down to the earth.
