Hadith 22336
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) while I was wearing a gold ring. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a twig and struck my hand, instructing me to remove it. So I went outside and threw it away, then returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What happened to that ring?" I replied that I had thrown it away. He said, "I had instructed you to benefit from it in some other way, not to throw it away."
