حَدِيثُ هُلْبٍ الطَّائِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Hilb al-Ta'i (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 21965
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ مُظَفَّرُ بْنُ مُدْرِكٍ , حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ , حَدَّثَنِي سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ , حَدَّثَنِي قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ , وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ , فَقَالَ : إِنَّ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ طَعَامًا أَتَحَرَّجُ مِنْهُ , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَخْتَلِجَنَّ فِي نَفْسِكَ شَيْءٌ ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that there are some foods from which I feel disgust and I feel uneasy about them. So I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying that such doubts should not arise in your hearts as the Christians were afflicted with, and you too start doubting like them.
Hadith 21966
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ طَعَامِ النَّصَارَى , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَخْتَلِجَنَّ فِي صَدْرِكَ طَعَامٌ ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that there are some foods from which I feel disgust and I feel uneasy about them. Hadith 21967
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , حَدَّثَنِي سِمَاكٌ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ , وَرَأَيْتُهُ قَالَ يَضَعُ هَذِهِ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ " , وَصَفَّ يَحْيَى : الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى فَوْقَ الْمِفْصَلِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returning from the right side as well as from the left side, and I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placing his right hand over his left hand on his chest, while the right hand was on the joint of the left hand.
Hadith 21968
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ الْهُلْبِ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ , وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placing his right hand over his left hand on his chest, and the right hand was on the joint of the left hand. I also saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returning from the right side and also from the left side.
Hadith 21969
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْوَرَكَانِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ طَعَامِ النَّصَارَى , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَخْتَلِجَنَّ أَوْ لَا يَحِيكَنَّ فِي صَدْرِكَ طَعَامٌ ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ " . قَالَ : " وَكَانَ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ , وَيَضَعُ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى " .

Hadith 21970
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ , عَنْ شُعْبَةَ , أَخْبَرَنِي سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَبِيصَةَ بْنَ هُلْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : وَذَكَرَ الصَّدَقَةَ , قَالَ : " لَا يَجِيئَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشَاةٍ لَهَا يُعَارٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (may Allah be pleased with him) once, while mentioning charity, said: None of you should come on the Day of Resurrection with a goat that is crying.
Hadith 21971
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ , حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ الْهُلْبِ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ طَعَامِ النَّصَارَى , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَحِيكَنَّ فِي صَدْرِكَ طَعَامٌ ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ النَّصْرَانِيَّةَ " , قَالَ : وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَضَعُ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى . قَالَ : " وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَنْصَرِفُ مَرَّةً عَنْ يَمِينِهِ , وَمَرَّةً عَنْ شِمَالِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that there are some foods which I feel disgusted by and I feel uneasy about them. So I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: Do not let such doubts arise in your hearts as the Christians were afflicted with, and you too begin to doubt like them. And I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placing one hand over the other. And I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returning from the right side as well as from the left side.
Hadith 21972

It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returning from the right side as well as from the left side.
Hadith 21974
حَدَّثَني عَبْد اللَّهِ , حَدَّثَني الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ , وَهَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ , قَالَا : حدثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَؤُمُّنَا فَيَأْخُذُ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ , وَكَانَ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ جَانِبَيْهِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ , وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Halaab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead us in prayer and would hold his left hand with his right hand, and would turn back from both the right and left sides.
Hadith
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , عَن قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَؤُمُّنَا فَيَأْخُذُ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ , وَكَانَ يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ جَانِبَيْهِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ , وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ " .
In our manuscript, only the word "حدثنا" is written here.
Hadith 21975

It is narrated marfu'an from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that such doubts should not arise in your hearts as the Christians were afflicted with, and you too begin to doubt like them.
Hadith 21977
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ ويهِ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَبِيصَةَ بْنَ هُلْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَكَرَ الصَّدَقَةَ , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَجِيئَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشَاةٍ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ " , قَالَ : يَقُولُ : يَصِيحُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (may Allah be pleased with him) once, while mentioning charity, said: None of you should come on the Day of Resurrection with a goat that is crying.
Hadith 21978
حدثنا عبد الله , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدَوَيْهِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ الْهُلْبِ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " وَكَانَ يَنْصَرِفُ عَلَى شِقَّيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have performed prayer with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I have seen him turning back from the right side as well as from the left side.
Hadith 21979
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَبِيصَةَ بْنَ الْهُلْبِ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم , فَرَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْصَرِفُ عَنْ شِقَّيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have offered prayer with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I have seen him turning back from the right side as well as from the left side.
Hadith 21980
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ سِمَاكٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَبِيصَةَ بْنَ هُلْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ الصَّدَقَةَ , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَجِيئَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشَاةٍ لَهَا يُعَارٌ " .

Hadith 21982
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ , عَنْ زَائِدَةَ , عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ , عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ هُلْبٍ الطَّائِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا انْفَتَلَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ انْفَتَلَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ , وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hilb (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer and returned, sometimes he would return from the right side and sometimes from the left side.
