It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at a place in Madinah Munawwarah where there were some graves. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was riding a mule at that time, when suddenly the mule became startled and was about to throw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) off. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Does anyone know whose graves these are?" A man replied, "O Messenger of Allah! These people died during the time of ignorance." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If it were not for the fear that you would stop burying your dead, I would have prayed to Allah to let you hear some of the punishment of the grave." Then he said to us, "Seek Allah's protection from the punishment of Hell." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the punishment of Hell." Then he said, "Seek Allah's protection from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal)." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal)." Then he said, "Seek Allah's protection from the punishment of the grave." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the punishment of the grave." It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day I was sitting beside the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) when revelation began to descend upon him and tranquility covered him. During this, the thigh of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came upon my thigh. By Allah! I have never found anything heavier than the thigh of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in that state. Then that condition passed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Zaid! Write." I took a shoulder blade bone and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Write: 'Laa yastawee al-qa'idoon... ajran azeema.'" I wrote it down. Upon hearing this verse and the virtue of the Mujahideen, Hazrat Abdullah bin Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him), who was blind, stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is the ruling for the person who cannot participate in jihad, such as the blind and others?" By Allah, his statement was not yet complete when tranquility again began to cover the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the thigh of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came upon my thigh, and I felt the same heaviness as before. Then that condition passed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Recite that verse." So I recited it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) included in it the words "ghayru olee ad-darar," which I added to it, and it is as if it is still before my eyes.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him a supplication and instructed him to also encourage his family to recite this supplication daily, and to himself say it in the morning as follows: O Allah, I am present, I am present for Your service; all good is in Your hand, it comes from You, it comes with Your help, and it returns to You. O Allah! Whatever I have uttered, whatever vow I have made, or whatever oath I have taken, Your will is above all of that; whatever You will happens, and whatever You do not will does not happen, and without Your guidance, we have no power to do good or to avoid sin. Surely, You have power over everything. O Allah! The one for whom I have prayed, he is deserving only if You bestow Your mercy upon him, and the one upon whom I have invoked a curse, he is deserving only if You have cursed him. You alone are my Guardian in this world and the Hereafter; grant me departure from this world in the state of Islam and include me among the righteous. O Allah, I ask You for contentment after the decree, the coolness of life after death, the delight of seeing Your beautiful Face, and the longing to meet You, without any hardship and without any misleading trial. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from wronging anyone or anyone wronging me, from transgressing against anyone or anyone transgressing against me, or from committing a sin that would destroy all my deeds or be unforgivable. O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the hidden and the manifest! Possessor of honor and greatness! In this worldly life, I make a covenant with You and make You a witness—"and You are sufficient as a witness"—I bear witness that there is no deity except You, You are alone, You have no partner, sovereignty is Yours and all praise is Yours, You have power over everything, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Your servant and Messenger. I also bear witness that Your promise is true, meeting You is certain, Paradise is true, the Day of Judgment is true, the Day of Judgment will surely come and there is no doubt in it, and You will resurrect those in the graves. And I bear witness that if You leave me to myself, it is as if You have left me to be lost, and handed me over to my faults, sins, and slips, and I can only rely on Your mercy. Therefore, forgive all my sins, for surely no one can forgive sins except You, and accept my repentance; indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling dates that are still on the trees in exchange for harvested dates. Then Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) informed them that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted this in the case of "Ariya."
