حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abd al-Rahman ibn Abzi from Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 21136
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَجْلَحَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَعْرِضَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَيْكَ " ، قَالَ : وَسَمَّانِي لَكَ رَبِّي ؟ قَالَ : 0 بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَلِكَ فَلْتَفْرَحُوا 0 هَكَذَا قَرَأَهَا أُبَيٌّ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: Allah Almighty has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you. Hazrat Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: Did my Lord mention my name? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: This is Allah's grace and His mercy, so you should rejoice over it. Hazrat Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite this verse of the Holy Qur'an "Fabizalika falyafrahu" as "Falyafrahu".
Hadith 21137
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أُبَيُّ ، أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْكَ سُورَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَقَدْ ذُكِرْتُ هُنَاكَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ ، فَفَرِحْتَ بِذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي وَاللَّهُ ، يَقُولُ : 0 قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَلِكَ فَلْتَفْرَحُوا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا تَجْمَعُونَ 0 ، قَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ ، قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ : هَذِهِ الْقِرَاءَةُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: Allah Almighty has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you. Hadith 21138
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّي ، حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهَا مَا تَكْرَهُونَ ، فَقُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ هَذِهِ الرِّيحِ ، وَمِنْ خَيْرِ مَا فِيهَا ، وَمِنْ خَيْرِ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ ، وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذِهِ الرِّيحِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِيهَا ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the wind, and when you see something in it that is unpleasant to you, then say: O Allah, we ask You for the good of this wind, the good of what is in it, and the good of what it has been sent with, and we seek refuge with You from the evil of this wind, the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it has been sent with.
Hadith 21139
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ ذَرِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ ، وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ خَيْرَهَا ، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا ، وَخَيْرَ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ ، وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا ، وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا ، وَشَرِّ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the wind, but rather ask Allah for the good of this wind, what is in it, and the good of what message it has been sent with, and seek refuge from the evil of this wind, what is in it, and the evil of what message it has been sent with.
Hadith 21140
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى بِنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْفَجْرَ وَتَرَكَ آيَةً ، فَجَاءَ أُبَيٌّ وَقَدْ فَاتَهُ بَعْضُ الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، نُسِخَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ أَوْ أُنْسِيتَهَا ؟ قَالَ : " لَا ، بَلْ أُنْسِيتُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer, and during the recitation, he omitted a verse. Hazrat Ubayy had arrived when part of the prayer had already passed. After the prayer, he submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Has this verse been abrogated, or did you forget it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "No, rather I forgot it."
Hadith 21141
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ الْأَبَّارُ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، وَزُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُوتِرُ ب ِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى ، وَ قُلْ يَأَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi, may Allah be pleased with him, on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" (Surah Al-A'la), "Say: O disbelievers" (Surah Al-Kafirun), and "Say: He is Allah, the One" (Surah Al-Ikhlas) in Witr prayer.
Hadith 21142
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ الإِيَامِيِّ ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوَتْرِ ب سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى ، وَ قُلْ يَأَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi, may Allah be pleased with him, on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" (Surah Al-A'la), "Say: O disbelievers" (Surah Al-Kafirun), and "Say: He is Allah, the One" (Surah Al-Ikhlas) in Witr prayer, and after concluding the prayer with salam, he would say "Subhanal Malikil Quddus" three times.
Hadith 21143
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَزَّازُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 21144
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُنَا إِذَا أَصْبَحْنَا " أَصْبَحْنَا عَلَى فِطْرَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَكَلِمَةِ الْإِخْلَاصِ ، وَسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمِلَّةِ أَبِينَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا ، وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ، وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْنَا مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abza (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us this supplication to recite in the morning: "We have entered the morning upon the natural religion of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the Sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and upon the religion of our father Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was upright and was not among the polytheists." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed to recite this supplication in the evening as well.
Hadith 21145
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ أَبْزَى ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ خَبَّابٍ ، سَمِعَ أُبَيًّا يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ الدَّجَّالَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِحْدَى عَيْنَيْهِ ، كَأَنَّهَا زُجَاجَةٌ خَضْرَاءُ ، وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), mentioning the Dajjal, said: One of his eyes will appear like a green glass, and seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
Hadith 21146
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ ، قَالَ رَوْحٌ : الْعَنْزِيُّ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، وَقَالَ رَوْحٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ خَبَّابٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ الدَّجَّالَ عِنْدَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " عَيْنُهُ خَضرَاءُ كَالزُّجَاجَةِ ، فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abzi (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), mentioning the Dajjal, said: One of his eyes will appear like a green glass, and seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
Hadith 21147
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الدَّجَّالِ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ . .
Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, Shubah narrated to us, Habib ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Abi al-Hudhayl, from Abdur-Rahman ibn Abza, from Abdullah ibn Khabbab, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, spoke about the Dajjal, and mentioned the like of it...
Hadith 21148
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مثلَهُ ، وَلَمْ يُذْكَرْ خَلَّادٌ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
