Hadith of Abd Allah ibn Amr ibn al-As from Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 21108
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَأُولاتُ الأَحْمَالِ أَجَلُهُنَّ أَنْ يَضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ سورة الطلاق آية 4 لِلْمُطَلَّقَةِ ثَلَاثًا ، وَلِلْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : " هِيَ لِلْمُطَلَّقَةِ ثَلَاثًا وَلِلْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا " .
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) with reference to Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the Quranic verse "And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they deliver their burdens" — is this ruling for the woman who has been given three divorces or for the one whose husband has died? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: This ruling is for both.
