It is narrated from Hazrat Qarah bin D’amoos that when I reached Madinah Munawwarah and presented myself before the Prophet (peace be upon him), there were people sitting around him. I tried to get closer but was not successful, so I called out from a distance, “O Messenger of Allah, pray for forgiveness for the young man of the Namir tribe (for me).” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “May Allah forgive you.” Earlier, the Prophet (peace be upon him) had sent Hazrat Dahiq bin Qais to collect Zakat. When he returned, he brought very fine camels. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him, “Did you, upon reaching Hilal bin ‘Amir, Namir bin ‘Amir, and ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah, take their valuable property?” He replied, “O Messenger of Allah, I had heard that you were mentioning setting out for Jihad, so I thought to bring such camels on which you could ride and carry your goods.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “By Allah, the animals you left behind are more beloved to me than those you brought. Return these to those people and take animals of average quality as Zakat from them.” The narrator says, “I heard the Muslims using the word ‘mujahadat’ for those camels.”
