حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِيطٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of a man from Banu Sulayt (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 20688
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَيْخٌ مَنْ بَنِي سَلِيطٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُكَلِّمُهُ فِي سَبْيٍ أُصِيبَ لَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ يُحَدِّثُ الْقَوْمَ ، وَحَلْقَةٌ قَدْ أَطَافَتْ بِهِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَاعِدٌ عَلَيْهِ إِزَارُ قِطْرٍ لَهُ غَلِيظٌ ، أَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْهُ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا ، وَأَشَارَ الْمُبَارَكُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ " الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ ، لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يَخْذُلُهُ ، التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا ، التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا " ، أَيْ فِي الْقَلْبِ .
It is narrated from a Sheikh of Banu Sulayt that once I came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to discuss those of my captives who had been captured during the time of ignorance. At that time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sitting and people had formed a circle around him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was wearing a thick lower garment. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was gesturing with his fingers. I heard him saying: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor does he leave him helpless. Taqwa is here, Taqwa is here," meaning in the heart.
Hadith 20689
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِيطٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي أَزْفَلَةٍ مِنَ الْنَّاسِ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ ، لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يَخْذُلُهُ ، التَّقْوَى هَاهُنَا " . قَالَ حَمَّادٌ : وَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ : " وَمَا تَوَادَّ رَجُلَانِ فِي اللَّهِ فَتَفَرِّقُ بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِحَدَثٌ يُحْدِثُهُ أَحَدُهُمَا ، وَالْمُحْدِثُ شَرٌّ ، وَالْمُحْدِثُ شَرٌّ ، وَالْمُحْدِثُ شَرٌّ " .
It is narrated from a Sheikh of Banu Sulayt that once I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated and people had formed a circle around him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a thick waistcloth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was gesturing with his fingers. I heard him say: "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not oppress him nor does he leave him helpless. Taqwa is here, Taqwa is here," meaning in the heart. "And when people love each other for the sake of Allah's pleasure, nothing can separate them except for a new thing that one of them invents, and whoever invents something is evil." (He said this three times.)
