Hadith of Abu Ghadiyah from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 20666
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كُلْثُومٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا غَادِيةَ ، يَقُولُ : بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ بِيَمِينِكَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَا : جَمِيعًا فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَخَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ تَلْقَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ ، كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا ، فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا ، فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا ، أَلَا هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ؟ " قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَا لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ghadiah Juhani that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Aqabah. The Prophet (peace be upon him), addressing us, said: "O people, until the Day of Resurrection, the lives and wealth of people are made unlawful for one another, just as the sanctity of this day in this month and in this city is inviolable. Have I conveyed the message of Allah?" The people affirmed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O Allah, bear witness. Remember, do not turn into disbelievers after me, striking each other's necks."
