Hazrat Hanzalah bin Huzaym says that his grandfather Hanifah once said to his father Huzaym, "Gather all my sons here so that I may make a will to them." So he gathered them all, and Hanifah said, "My first will is that my orphaned nephew, who is under my care, should be given one hundred camels, which we used to call 'Matiyah' in the days of ignorance." Huzaym said, "Father, I have heard your sons saying that in front of you we will agree to this, but after your death, we will go back on our word." Hanifah said, "Between me and you is the Prophet (peace be upon him)." Huzaym said, "We are content with that." So Huzaym and Hanifah got up, and with them was Hanzalah, who was a young boy and was sitting behind Huzaym on the mount. They went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and greeted him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked Hanifah, "O Abu Huzaym, what brings you here?" He replied, "Because of this," and struck Huzaym's thigh and said, "I feared that sudden death might overtake me, so I thought to make a will. So I told my children that my first will is that my orphaned nephew, who is under my care, should be given one hundred camels, which we used to call 'Matiyah' in the days of ignorance." At this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became displeased, and we saw signs of anger on his blessed face. He was sitting at first, then he bent on his knees and said three times, "No, no, no! Charity is of five camels, or otherwise ten camels, or otherwise fifteen camels, or otherwise twenty, or otherwise thirty, or otherwise thirty-five, or otherwise forty, and if it is very much, even then." So they left it. That orphan had a stick and was striking one of his camels with it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) saw this and said, "It is a great thing, this is the orphan's stick." Hanzalah says, "Then they took me to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, 'Some of my sons are grown and some are younger than this; he is the youngest among them. Please pray to Allah for him.' So the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed his hand over his head and said, 'May Allah bless you.'" Ziyal says, "I saw that if a man with a swollen face was brought to Hazrat Hanzalah bin Huzaym, or an animal with swollen udders, he would put his saliva on his hands, say 'Bismillah,' place his hand on its head, and say, 'On the place of the palm of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),' and pass it over, and its swelling would go away."
