حَدِيثُ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Qays ibn 'Asim (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 20611
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ ، عَنْ خَلِيفَةَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَسْلَمَ ، فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Qais bin Asim that when he accepted Islam, the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed him to perform ghusl (ritual bath) with water and lote tree leaves and then come.
Hadith 20612
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ الشِّخِّيرِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ أَوْصَى وَلَدَهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ قَالَ : اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَسَوِّدُوا أَكْبَرَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ الْقَوْمَ إِذَا سَوَّدُوا أَكْبَرَهُمْ ، خَلَفُوا أَبَاهُمْ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَإِذَا مُتُّ فَلَا تَنُوحُوا عَلَيَّ ، " فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يُنَحْ عَلَيْهِ " .
Hazrat Qais bin Asim, before his death, advised his children, saying: Fear Allah, appoint the eldest among you as the leader, because when a people appoint their elder as the chief, he proves to be the successor of their father... And when I die, do not wail over me, because wailing was not done over the Prophet (peace be upon him) either.
Hadith 20613
حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ مُغِيرَةُ أَخْبَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ بْنِ التَّوْأَمِ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ الْحِلْفِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " مَا كَانَ مِنْ حِلْفٍ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَتَمَسَّكُوا بِهِ ، وَلَا حِلْفَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Qais bin Asim that he asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about agreements, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: There is no validity in Islam for any agreement that causes discord, but fulfill the good agreements from the time of ignorance.
Hadith 20614
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الله ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ سَبَلَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ بْنِ التَّوْأَمِ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ.
Abdullah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Ziyad Sabalan narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Mughirah, from his father, from Shu'bah ibn al-Taw'am, from Qays ibn 'Asim, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of it.
Hadith 20615
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ ، عَنْ خَلِيفَةَ بْنِ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ جَدَّهُ أَسْلَمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ " .
