Once, Hazrat Utbah, while delivering a sermon, began by praising Allah and, after saying "Amma ba'd," said: "The world is announcing that it is coming to an end and it is turning its back and departing, and its remaining duration is only as much as the moisture left in a vessel by the one who drinks from it. And you are about to move to a house which will never perish, so move to that house with the best of deeds. And I have seen the time when I was the seventh person among those who accepted Islam with the Prophet (peace be upon him). At that time, we had nothing to eat except the leaves of trees, because of which our jaws became sore." Once, Hazrat Utbah, while delivering a sermon, began by praising Allah... Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith and at the end said: "And I have seen the time when I was the seventh person among those who accepted Islam with the Prophet (peace be upon him). At that time, we had nothing to eat except the leaves of trees, because of which our jaws became sore."

Isma'il narrated to us, Ayub narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from a man—Ayub said: I think he is Khalid ibn Umair—he said: I heard Utbah ibn Ghazwan giving a sermon, and he mentioned the hadith, he said: "Indeed, I saw myself as the seventh of seven with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, or he said: from the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and we had no food except the trees, or he said: the leaves of the trees, until the sides of our mouths became sore." My father said: This Abu Na'amah is Amr ibn Isa, and Abu Na'amah al-Sa'di is another, older than this one, and this one is greater than that one.
