حَدِيثُ رَدِيفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of the one who rode behind the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 20591
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ ، عَمَّنْ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ رَدِيفَهُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ ، فَعَثَرَ الْحِمَارُ ، فَقُلْتُ : تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَقُلْ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا قُلْتَ تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، تَعَاظَمَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي نَفْسِهِ ، وَقَالَ : صَرَعْتُهُ بِقُوَّتِي ، فَإِذَا قُلْتَ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، تَصَاغَرَتْ إِلَيْهِ نَفْسُهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَصْغَرَ مِنْ ذُبَابٍ " .
It is narrated from a Companion that once I was riding a donkey behind the Prophet (peace be upon him). Suddenly, the donkey shied, and I uttered, "May the devil be ruined." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not say this, because when you say this phrase, the devil considers himself very great and says, 'I have overpowered him with my strength.' But when you say 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah), he becomes so insignificant in his own eyes that he becomes even smaller than a fly."
Hadith 20592
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا تَمِيمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ رَدِيفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : قَالَ عَاصِمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ رَدِيفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : عَثَرَ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِمَارُهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَقُلْ : تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا قُلْتَ : تَعِسَ الشَّيْطَانُ ، تَعَاظَمَ وَقَالَ بِقُوَّتِي صَرَعْتُهُ ، وَإِذَا قُلْتَ : بِسْمِ اللَّهِ ، تَصَاغَرَ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ مِثْلَ الذُّبَابِ " .
