حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 20586
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ سُوَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : كَانَ بِالْكُوفَةِ أَمِيرٌ ، قَالَ : فَخَطَبَ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ فِي إِعْطَاءِ هَذَا الْمَالِ فِتْنَةً ، وَفِي إِمْسَاكِهِ فِتْنَةً " ، وَبِذَلِكَ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ حَتَّى فَرَغَ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ .
Mutarrif bin Abdullah says that in Kufa, a companion of the Prophet (ﷺ) was the governor. One day, while delivering a sermon, he said: "There is a trial in giving wealth and there is a trial in withholding it." This is the same thing that the Prophet (ﷺ) once said while standing in his sermon, until he finished and came down from the pulpit.
