It is narrated from an Ansari companion that a man who was in the state of Ihram passed his camel over the place where an ostrich had laid its egg in the sand, causing the ostrich's egg to break. He then went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and mentioned the whole incident. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You have heard what Ali has said, but now come towards concession: for every egg, it is obligatory upon you to either fast for one day or feed one needy person."
