حَدِيثُ زُهَيْرِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Zuhayr ibn 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 20324
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْوَرَ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ , قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : كَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ مَعْرُوفٌ ، أَيْ يُثْنَى عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : زُهَيْرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْوَلِيمَةُ حَقٌّ ، وَالْيَوْمُ الثَّانِي مَعْرُوفٌ ، وَالْيَوْمُ الثَّالِثُ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ " .
Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there was a well-known person in the tribe of Thaqif whose one eye did not function; his real name was Zuhair bin Uthman. He says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The wedding feast (walimah) is a right; serving food on the second day is a good deed, and serving food on the third day is for fame and show.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَعْوَرَ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ , قَالَ قَتَادَةُ : وَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ مَعْرُوفٌ ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ اسْمُهُ زُهَيْرَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ ، فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا اسْمُهُ ؟ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْوَلِيمَةُ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ حَقٌّ ، وَالثَّانِي مَعْرُوفٌ ، وَالْيَوْمَ الثَّالِثَ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ " .
