حَدِيثُ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Qatadah ibn Milhan (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 20316
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ الْقَيْسِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُنَا بِصِيَامِ لَيَالِي الْبِيضِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَأَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَقَالَ : " هِيَ كَصَوْمِ الدَّهْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to fast on the white days, that is, the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the lunar month, whose reward is equal to fasting for the entire month.
Hadith 20317
حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَ أَبِي ، عَنِ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عُمَيْر ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ حِينَ حُضِرَ ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ فِي أَقْصَى الدَّارِ ، قَالَ : فَأَبْصَرْتُهُ فِي وَجْهِ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : وَكُنْتُ إِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ كَأَنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ الدِّهَانَ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ . .
Abu Alaa bin Umair says that I was present with Hazrat Qatadah bin Milhan when the time of his death approached. At that moment, a man passed by from the farthest corner of the house; I saw him in front of Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him). Whenever I looked at Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), it seemed as if oil had been applied to his face. In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had passed his blessed hand over his face.
Hadith 20318
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ , وَهُرَيْمٌ أَبُو حمزة , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 20319
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي قَيْسِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِصِيَامِ أَيَّامِ الْبِيضِ , وَيَقُولُ : " هُنَّ صِيَامُ الشَّهْرِ " , أَوْ قَالَ : " الدَّهْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to fast on the white days, that is, the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the lunar month, which in reward are equal to fasting the entire month.
Hadith 20320
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ الْقَيْسِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَصُومَ اللَّيَالِي الْبِيضَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَأَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَخَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ ، وَقَالَ : " هُنَّ كَهَيْئَةِ الدَّهْرِ " .
