Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Attend the Friday prayer and stay close to the Imam, for a person who keeps staying behind from Jumu'ah keeps staying behind from Paradise, even though he is deserving of it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade meeting traders coming from outside before they reach the market, or that any townsman should sell the merchandise of a villager.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution on the day of Jumu'ah, it is sufficient, and whoever takes a bath, that is more virtuous.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a woman is married by two guardians in different places, she will belong to the first of them, and whoever buys the same thing from two different men, it will belong to the first of them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills his slave, we will kill him, and whoever cuts off his slave’s nose, we will cut off his nose.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Soon Allah will fill your hands with the non-Arabs, then they will become like lions who do not flee from the battlefield, they will kill your warriors and consume your spoils of war.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Fajr prayer, and after the prayer he said, "Is there anyone here from such-and-such tribe?" They replied, "Yes! (We are present)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Your companion (who has passed away) has been held back at the gate of Paradise because of a debt he owed, so pay off his debt."

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills his slave, we will kill him, and whoever cuts off his slave's nose, we will cut off his nose.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When I narrate a hadith to you, do not ask for more than that. The most beloved words to Allah are four: La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, and Alhamdulillah. You may begin with any of them; there is no harm in it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not name your children Aflah (successful), Najeeh (prosperous), Yasar (ease), or Rabah (profit).

Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe silence twice during the prayer. Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he did not remember this from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Both of them wrote a letter to Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding this matter, in which they asked him about this issue. Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) replied in writing that Samurah had remembered correctly.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The neighbor of the house has more right to the house than others.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By the 'middle prayer' (Salat al-Wusta) is meant the Asr prayer."

And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever plants a garden on any land, then it belongs to him.

And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever a hand takes (from another), it remains a liability upon it until it is returned (to the giver).

And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills his slave, we will kill him, and whoever cuts off his slave’s nose, we will cut off his nose.

And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every boy is held in pledge for his 'aqiqah, so sacrifice should be offered on his behalf on the seventh day, his name should be given on that day, and his head should be shaved.

Asim says that this hadith, after the prohibition, the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself permitted nabidh. Munzir Abu Hassan used to narrate this from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) and used to say that whoever opposes Hajjaj, he is opposing.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a bowl of tharid was brought. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate from it and the people also ate from it. People kept eating from it until near the time of Zuhr. A group would come and eat, then stand up, and after them another group would come, and this continued. Someone asked, "Is food being continuously added to this bowl?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No one is adding anything to it on the earth, but if blessing has been placed in it from the sky, then that is another matter."

Hasan says that a man came to him and said that his slave had run away and he had vowed that if he gained power over him, he would cut off his hand. Hasan replied that Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us this hadith: There were very few sermons in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not command charity and did not prohibit mutilation.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills his slave, we will kill him, and whoever cuts off his slave’s nose, we will cut off his nose.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a woman’s marriage is contracted by two guardians at different places, then she will belong to the one who did it first. And whoever buys the same thing from two different men, then it will belong to the one who bought it first.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The seller and the buyer have the option to cancel the sale as long as they have not separated from each other.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of an animal for another animal on credit.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills a polytheist on the battlefield, his equipment will belong to him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Kill the elderly among the polytheists and keep their youth alive." The son of Imam Ahmad says that I asked my father for an explanation of this hadith, so he said: "An old man generally does not accept Islam, whereas a young man does; thus, the young are closer to Islam compared to the old."

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person's property is stolen or lost, or he sees his exact property with someone, then he has a greater right to it, and the buyer (purchaser) will take his price from the seller (vendor).

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The neighbor of the house has more right to the house than others.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sees his own goods with someone, he has a greater right to them, and the buyer will take his price from the seller.

Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) once said during a sermon that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not let Bilal's call to prayer or this whiteness deceive you until the true dawn appears."

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" and "Has there come to you the narration" in the Friday prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Dajjal is about to emerge, and he will be blind in his left eye, and there will be a thick nail over it. He will cure those who are born blind and those suffering from leprosy, and he will bring the dead back to life. He will say to the people, "I am your Lord." Whoever accepts this and says, "He is my Lord," will fall into tribulation, and whoever says, "My Lord is Allah," and remains steadfast upon this until the end, will be safe from his tribulation, and he will not be subjected to any trial nor any punishment. The Dajjal will remain on the earth as long as Allah wills, then Hazrat Isa (Jesus) will descend from the west, and he will come and affirm the truth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and will be upon his religion, and he will kill the Dajjal. Then the Day of Judgment will draw near.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Umra is permissible in favor of the person for whom it is made.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of rain during the Battle of Hunayn, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the people to pray in their tents.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Make white clothes obligatory upon yourselves; wear white clothes yourselves and shroud your dead in them, for they are the best of your clothes.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Salat al-Wusta, the Asr prayer is meant.

It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whatever one hand takes from another remains a responsibility upon it until it is returned (to the giver).

A man said, "Yes! (We are present)."
