حَدِيثُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Yazid ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 19452
حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا وَرَدْنَا الْبَقِيعَ ، إِذَا هُوَ بِقَبْرٍ جَدِيدٍ ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ ، فَقِيلَ : فُلَانَةُ ، فَعَرَفَهَا ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَا آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهَا ؟ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كُنْتَ قَائِلًا صَائِمًا ، فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُؤْذِنَكَ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَفْعَلُوا ، لَا يَمُوتَنَّ فِيكُمْ مَيِّتٌ مَا كُنْتُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ إِلَا آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهِ ، فَإِنَّ صَلَاتِي عَلَيْهِ لَهُ رَحْمَةٌ " ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَتَى الْقَبْرَ ، فَصَفَّنَا خَلْفَهُ ، وَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعًا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Yazid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we went out with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and reached Jannat al-Baqi‘, where we saw a new grave. The Prophet asked, "Whose grave is this?" The people informed him that it was the grave of such-and-such woman. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recognized her and said, "Why did you not inform me about her?" The people replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You were fasting and resting at midday, so we did not consider it appropriate to disturb you." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not do so. As long as I am among you, be sure to inform me about anyone who passes away among you, for my offering the funeral prayer for them is a mercy for them." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approached her grave, we formed rows behind him, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said four takbirs over her.
Hadith 19453
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَطَلَعَتْ جِنَازَةٌ ، فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَارَ ، وَثَارَ أَصْحَابُهُ مَعَهُ ، فَلَمْ يَزَالُوا قِيَامًا حَتَّى نَفَذَتْ ، قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ مَا أَدْرِي مِنْ تَأَذٍّ بِهَا ، أَوْ مِنْ تَضَايُقِ الْمَكَانِ ، وَلَا أَحْسِبُهَا إِلَّا يَهُودِيًّا ، أَوْ يَهُودِيَّةً ، وَمَا سَأَلْنَا عَنْ قِيَامِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Yazid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was sitting with the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) in the gathering of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a funeral passed by. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up upon seeing it, and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) also stood up and remained standing until the funeral had passed. By Allah, I do not know how many people were troubled because of the funeral or because of the narrowness of the place, and I think that the funeral was of a Jewish man or woman, but we did not ask the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the reason for standing.
