حَدِيثُ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 19092
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهما ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً ، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي غَدًا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari said in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! Just as you have given so-and-so a position, why do you not give me any position?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Soon you will face preferences after me, at that time be patient until you meet me at the Pond of Kawthar tomorrow."
Hadith 19093
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ فَاطِمَةَ ابْنَةِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَقُولُ : كَانَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ مِنْ أَفَاضِلِ النَّاسِ ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ : " لَوْ أَنِّي أَكُونُ كَمَا أَكُونُ عَلَى أَحْوَالٍ ثَلَاثٍ مِنْ أَحْوَالِي لَكُنْتُ : حِينَ أَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَحِينَ أَسْمَعُهُ يُقْرَأُ ، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُ خُطْبَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِذَا شَهِدْتُ جِنَازَةً ، وَمَا شَهِدْتُ جِنَازَةً قَطُّ فَحَدَّثْتُ نَفْسِي بِسِوَى مَا هُوَ مَفْعُولٌ بِهَا ، وَمَا هِيَ صَائِرَةٌ إِلَيْهِ " .
Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him), who was counted among the virtuous people, used to say that if I had only three states, I would be myself: when I recite the Qur'an myself and when I listen to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting it, when I listen to the sermon of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and when I participate in a funeral. And whenever I participated in a funeral, I never thought of anything except what circumstances the deceased would face and what his end would be?
Hadith 19094
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُما ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَخَلَّى بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً ، فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari presented himself in the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Hadith 19095
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَدِمْنَا مِنْ حَجٍّ أَوْ عُمْرَةٍ ، فَتُلُقِّينَا بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ وَكَانَ غِلْمَانٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَلَقَّوْا أَهْلِيهِمْ ، فَلَقُوا أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ ، فَنَعَوْا لَهُ امْرَأَتَهُ ، فَتَقَنَّعَ وَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي ، قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ ، أَنْتَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَكَ مِنَ السَّابِقَةِ وَالْقِدَمِ ، مَا لَكَ تَبْكِي عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ . فَكَشَفَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ ، وَقَالَ : صَدَقْتِ لَعَمْرِي ، حَقِّي أَنْ لَا أَبْكِي عَلَى أَحَدٍ بَعْدَ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، وَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا قَالَ ، قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ لَهُ : مَا قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " لَقَدْ اهْتَزَّ الْعَرْشُ لِوَفَاةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ " . قَالَتْ : وَهُوَ يَسِيرُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we were returning from Hajj or Umrah. When we reached Dhul-Hulaifah, some young men from the Ansar began to meet their families. Among them, some people also met Hazrat Usaid bin Hudair (may Allah be pleased with him) and offered him condolences on the death of his wife. At this, he covered his face and began to weep. I said to him, "May Allah forgive you! You are a companion of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and you have precedence and a status in Islam. Why are you weeping over your wife?" He removed the cloth from his head and said, "You have spoken the truth. By my life! It is my right that after Saad bin Muadh, I should not shed tears over anyone, while the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said a strange thing about him." I asked, "What did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say?" He replied, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'At the death of Saad bin Muadh, the Throne of Allah shook, and he was walking between me and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).'"
Hadith 19096
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَأَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عن أبيه ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " تَوَضَّئوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ ، وَلَا تَوَضَّئوا مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ، وَصَلُّوا فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ ، وَلَا تُصَلُّوا فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Perform ablution after eating camel meat, but do not perform ablution after eating goat meat. And you may pray in sheep enclosures, but do not pray in camel enclosures.
Hadith 19097
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ ثِقَةً ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ الْحَكَمُ يَأْخُذُ عَنْهُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَلْبَانِ الْإِبِلِ ، قَالَ : " تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا " ، وَسُئِلَ عَنْ أَلْبَانِ الْغَنَمِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَوَضَّئُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that someone asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling of drinking camel's milk. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: After drinking it, perform ablution. Then he asked about the ruling of goat's milk, so he said: After drinking it, there is no need to perform ablution.
