حَدِيثُ أَبِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu Nawfal ibn Abi Aqrab from his father (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 19051
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ فَقَالَ : " صُمْ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ يَوْمًا " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أَقْوَى ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي أَقْوَى ، إِنِّي أَقْوَى ! صُمْ يَوْمَيْنِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، زِدْنِي ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " زِدْنِي زِدْنِي ! ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Aqrab (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about fasting, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep one fast in every month." I said, "I have the strength for more than that." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What is this that you have the strength for more than that, the strength for more than that? Keep two fasts in every month." I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Please increase it a little more." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What is this that I should increase, increase? Just keep three fasts in every month."
