حَدِيثُ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Dumrah ibn Tha‘labah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 18979
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ابْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّتَانِ مِنْ حُلَلِ الْيَمَنِ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا ضَمْرَةُ ، أَتَرَى ثَوْبَيْكَ هَذَيْنِ مُدْخِلَيْكَ الْجَنَّةَ ؟ " فَقَالَ : لَئِنْ اسْتَغْفَرْتَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا أَقْعُدُ حَتَّى أَنْزَعَهُمَا عَنِّي ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ " . فَانْطَلَقَ سَرِيعًا حَتَّى نَزَعَهُمَا عَنْهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Zumrah bin Tha'labah that he once presented himself before the Prophet wearing two garments from Yemen. The Prophet said, "Zumrah! Do you think these clothes will admit you into Paradise?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! If you pray for my forgiveness, I will not sit down until I take them off." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) supplicated, "O Allah! Forgive Zumrah bin Tha'labah." Then he quickly went back and took them off.
