حَدِيثُ فُرَاتِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ الْعِجْلِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Furāt ibn Hayyan al-'Ajli (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 18965
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ . قَالَ عبد الله ابن أحمد : وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ ، عَنْ فُرَاتِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِهِ وَكَانَ عَيْنًا لِأَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَحَلِيفًا ، فَمَرَّ بِحَلْقَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُ يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ رِجَالًا نَكِلُهُمْ إِلَى إِيمَانِهِمْ ؛ مِنْهُمْ فُرَاتُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Furat bin Hayan that the Prophet had ordered his killing because he was a spy and ally of Abu Sufyan. Furat passed by a group of the Ansar and he said, "I am a Muslim." They went and informed the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! He claims that he is a Muslim." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Some men among you are such that we trust their oath and hand them over according to their oath. Furat bin Hayan is among them."
