حَدِيثُ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of ‘Iyad ibn Himar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 18336
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ الْتَقَطَ لُقَطَةً ، فَلْيُشْهِدْ ذَا عَدْلٍ أَوْ ذَوَيْ عَدْلٍ ، ثُمَّ لَا يَكْتُمْ وَلَا يُغَيِّبْ ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ رَبُّهَا ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا ، وَإِلَّا فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَالُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever finds a lost item should have two just men bear witness over it, and should carefully remember its pouch and its sealed mouth. Then, if its owner comes, he should not hide it from him, because he is more deserving of it. And if its owner does not come, then it is Allah’s property; He gives it to whomever He wills.
Hadith 18337
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالاَ عَلَى الْبَادِئِ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدْ الْمَظْلُومُ ، وَالْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَكَاذَبَانِ وَيَتَهَاتَرَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When two people abuse each other, the sin is upon the one who started it, unless the oppressed also exceeds the limit. And those two persons who abuse each other are both devils who utter nonsense and lies.
Hadith 18338
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ الْمُجَاشِعِيِّ ، رَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُعَلِّمَكُمْ مَا جَهِلْتُمْ مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِي يَوْمِي هَذَا وَإِنَّهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ كُلَّ مَالٍ نَحَلْتُهُ عِبَادِي ، فَهُوَ لَهُمْ حَلَالٌ " ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ . وَقَالَ : " وَأَهْلُ النَّارِ خَمْسَةٌ : الضَّعِيفُ الَّذِي لَا زَبْرَ لَهُ ، الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِيكُمْ تَبَعٌ لَا يَبْتَغُونَ أَهْلًا وَلَا مَالًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during a sermon: My Lord has commanded me that I should teach you those things which He has taught me today and of which you are unaware. (So my Lord has said:) Every wealth that I have bestowed upon My servants is lawful... Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith and at the end said: The people of Hell will be of five types: the weak person who has neither wealth nor property and is considered among you as a follower, who does not strive for the acquisition of family or wealth...
Hadith 18339
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ حَكِيمٍ الْأَثْرَمِ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِيَاضُ بْنُ حِمَارٍ الْمُجَاشِعِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي خُطْبَةٍ خَطَبَهَا ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُعَلِّمَكُمْ مَا جَهِلْتُمْ مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِي يَوْمِي هَذَا ، قَالَ : وَإِنَّ كُلَّ مَالٍ نَحَلْتُهُ عِبَادِي فَهُوَ لَهُمْ حَلَالٌ " فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said while delivering a sermon: My Lord has commanded me that I should teach you the things He has taught me today, and of which you are unaware. Hadith 18340
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ ، وَحَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ أَخُو مُطَرِّفٍ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي عُقْبَةُ ، كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي مُطَرِّفٌ ، أَنَّ عِيَاضَ بْنَ حِمَارٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُعَلِّمَكُمْ مَا جَهِلْتُمْ " فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ : " الضَّعِيفُ الَّذِي لَا زَبْرَ لَهُ ، الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِيكُمْ تَبَعٌ لَا يَبْتَغُونَ أَهْلًا وَلَا مَالًا " . قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِمُطَرِّفٍ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَمِنَ الْمَوَالِي هُوَ أَوْ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ ؟ قَالَ : هُوَ التَّابِعَةُ يَكُونُ لِلرَّجُلِ يُصِيبُ مِنْ خَدَمِهِ سِفَاحًا غَيْرَ نِكَاحٍ . وَقَالَ : " أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ ثَلَاثَةٌ : ذُو سُلْطَانٍ مُقْسِطٌ مُصَدِّقٌ مُوقِنٌ ، وَرَجُلٌ رَحِيمٌ رَقِيقُ الْقَلْبِ بِكُلِّ ذِي قُرْبَى وَمُسْلِمٍ ، وَرَجُلٌ عَفِيفٌ فَقِيرٌ مُتَصَدِّقٌ " . قَالَ هَمَّامٌ : قَالَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ قَتَادَةَ : وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ يُونُسُ الْإِسْكَافُ ، قَالَ لِي : إِنَّ قَتَادَةَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ حَدِيثَ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ مِنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، قُلْتُ : هُوَ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، وَتَقُولُ أَنْتَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ مِنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَجَعَلَ يَسْأَلُهُ وَاجْتَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْنَا لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ : سَلْهُ ، هَلْ سَمِعَ حَدِيثَ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، فَسَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ : لَا ، حَدَّثَنِي أَرْبَعَةٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، فَسَمَّى ثَلَاثَةً ، الَّذِي قُلْتُ لَكُمْ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during a sermon: My Lord has commanded me to teach you the things He has taught me today, which you are unaware of. Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith and at the end said: The people of Paradise will be of three types: first, the just ruler who gives charity and is granted the ability to do good deeds; second, the kind person who is soft-hearted towards every close relative and Muslim; and third, the poor person who refrains from asking and himself gives charity. And the people of Hell will be of five types: the weak person who has neither wealth nor property and is considered subordinate among you, who does not even strive for the welfare of his family and the acquisition of wealth.
Hadith 18341
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَخِي مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالاَ عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَفْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ ، أَوْ مَا لَمْ يَفْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When two people abuse each other, the sin is upon the one who started it, unless the oppressed also exceeds the limit.
Hadith 18342
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَكَاذَبَانِ وَيَتَهَاتَرَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those two persons who abuse each other, both of them are devils who utter nonsense and lie.
Hadith 18343
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ خَالِدًا يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ الْتَقَطَ لُقَطَةً فَلْيُشْهِدْ ذَوَيْ عَدْلٍ أَوْ ذَا عَدْلٍ " خَالِدٌ الشَّاكُّ " وَلَا يَكْتُمْ وَلَا يُغَيِّبْ ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا ، وَإِلَّا فَهُوَ مَالُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever finds a lost item should have two just men bear witness over it, and should carefully remember its bag and its sealed mouth. Then, if its owner comes, he should not hide it from him, because he is more entitled to it. And if its owner does not come, then it is Allah’s property; He gives it to whomever He wills. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
Hadith 18344
حدثنا عبد الله ، حدثني أبي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْت يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ يَقُولُ : مُطَرِّفٌ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْحَسَنِ بِعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً ، وَأَبُو الْعَلَاءِ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْحَسَنِ بِعَشْرِ سِنِينَ . قال عبد الله : قال أبي : حَدَّثَنِيهِ أَخٌّ لِأَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَقِيلٍ الدَّوْرَقِيِّ بِهَذَا.
Abdullah narrated to us, my father narrated to me, he said: I heard Yahya ibn Sa'id say: Mutarrif is twenty years older than al-Hasan, and Abu al-'Ala is ten years older than al-Hasan. Abdullah said: My father said: It was narrated to me by a brother of Abu Bakr ibn al-Aswad, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Abu Aqil al-Dawraqi with this.
