Qais bin Abad (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Abu al-Yaqzan! Tell me, is the matter in which you people have become involved based on your own opinion, or is it a special instruction from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give us any special instruction that he did not give to the general people."
Hadith 18314
It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the polytheists began to satirize us, we complained about it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As they recite satire against you, you also recite satire against them." Thus, we also saw the time when we used to teach those verses to the slave girls of the people of Madinah.

Najiyah ‘Anazi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there was a difference of opinion between Hazrat ‘Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) and ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the issue of tayammum for a person in a state of janabah. Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “If I do not find water for a month after becoming junub, even then I will not pray without performing ghusl.” Hazrat ‘Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Do you not remember that incident when once you and I were in a camel enclosure, and during the night I became junub, so I rolled in the dust like an animal, and when we returned to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘For you, tayammum would have been sufficient.’”
Hadith 18316
Mukhariq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that on the day of the Battle of Jamal, I met Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was urinating in a horn. I asked him, "Can I fight in your company so that I may attain your companionship?" He replied, "Fight under the flag of your own people, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked that a person should fight under the flag of his own people."
Hadith 18317
Abu Wa'il (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered to us an extremely eloquent and concise sermon. When he descended from the pulpit, we said, "O Abu al-Yaqzan! You delivered a very eloquent and concise sermon; if you had taken a breath in between (and spoken at greater length, it would have been excellent)." He replied, "I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'A person's long prayer and short sermon are signs of his understanding. Therefore, make the prayer long and the sermon short, for some speech has the effect of magic.'"
Hadith 18318
It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was performing prayer. I greeted the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) responded to me.
Hadith 18319
It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about tayammum, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One strike is for both hands and one strike is for the face.

We requested him regarding tribulations, "Have you heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say that after me, there will come a people who will kill each other for the sake of gaining power?" We said to him, "If anyone other than you had narrated this hadith to us, we would never have believed it." He replied, "This will certainly happen."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once during the expedition of Dhat al-‘Usheirah, I and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) were travel companions. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped at a certain place and stayed there, we saw some people from Banu Mudlij working in the springs of their gardens. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me, “O Abu al-Yaqzan! Come, let us go to these people and see how they work.” So we went near them and watched their work for a while. Then we began to feel drowsy, so we returned and lay down on the ground in a garden. We slept so deeply that only the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and woke us up. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was shaking us with his foot, and we were covered in that soil. On that day, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), “Abu Turab!” because there was much soil (turab) on him. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Shall I not tell you about the two most wretched men among all people?” We said, “Why not, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “One is the fair-skinned man from the people of Thamud who hamstrung the she-camel of Allah, and the other is the man who, O Ali, will strike your head and soak your beard with blood.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped with an army during the last part of the night. The Noble Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) honorable wife, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), was also with him. That same night, her ivory necklace broke and fell. The people stopped to search for her necklace. This continued until the break of dawn, and the people did not have any water (to perform prayer). On this occasion, Allah Almighty revealed the concession in ablution, that is, the command to perform tayammum with pure earth. Thus, all the Muslims stood with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), struck their hands on the ground, raised their hands but did not pick up any soil, and wiped their hands over their faces and shoulders, and in the same way, wiped the inner parts of their hands up to the armpits. Therefore, people should not fall into doubts about this, and we also learned that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his daughter Aisha Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), “By Allah! I did not know that you are so blessed.”
Hadith 18323
Ibn L As Khuza'i, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once Hazrat Ammar, may Allah be pleased with him, entered the mosque and performed two light but complete rak'ahs, then sat down. We also got up, went to him, and sat down. We said to him, "Abu al-Yaqzan! You performed these two rak'ahs very lightly." He replied, "I have outpaced Satan in them, so that he may not enter within me." Then he mentioned the complete hadith.
Hadith 18324
Narrated to us Aswad ibn ‘Amir, narrated to us Sharik, from Abu Hashim, from Abu Majlaz, who said: "‘Ammar performed a prayer and made it brief in it, so he was asked or it was said to him, and he said: 'I have not omitted anything from the prayer of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.'"

Abu Majliz (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) offered a brief prayer. Someone asked him the reason for this, and he replied, "I did not differ in the least from the prayer of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Abu Majliz (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in a very brief prayer. People were surprised at this, so he said, "I did not complete the bowing and prostration." People asked, "Why not?" He replied, "In it, I made a supplication which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make, and it is this: O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, grant me life as long as You know life is better for me, and when death is better for me, then cause me to die. I ask You for fear of You in the open and in secret, for speaking the word of truth in anger and in pleasure, for moderation in poverty and in wealth. I ask for the delight of seeing Your noble face and the longing to meet You. I seek refuge in You from harmful things and from misleading trials. O Allah, adorn us with the beauty of faith and make us guided and guiding others."
Hadith 18326
Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Khuthaym, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, Muhammad ibn Khuthaym Abu Yazid narrated to me, from Ammar ibn Yasir, who said: I and Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, were companions in the expedition of al-‘Ushayrah, and we passed by men from Banu Mudlij working in their palm trees. He mentioned the meaning of the hadith of Isa ibn Yunus.
Hadith 18327
It is narrated from Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The following things are from the acts of nature: rinsing the mouth, putting water in the nose, trimming the mustache, using the miswak, cutting the nails, washing the joints of the fingers, plucking the hair of the armpits, cleaning the hair below the navel, performing circumcision, and sprinkling water on the garment after relieving oneself.

Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! Tell me, if a person becomes impure and does not find water, will he remain in the state of janabah for a whole month and not be allowed to perform tayammum? He replied: No, even if water is not found for a month. Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then what will you do with the verse in Surah Ma'idah in which Allah Almighty says, "If you do not find water, then perform tayammum with clean earth"? Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: If people are given this permission, they will start performing tayammum and praying with earth even in slight cold. Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Do you dislike it only for this reason? He replied: Yes!

Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Have you not heard this statement of Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me on an errand, and during the journey, ghusl became obligatory upon me. I did not find water, so I rolled in the earth just as animals do. Then I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this incident as well. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'It would have been sufficient for you to do only this.' Saying this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his hand on the earth, then joined both hands together and wiped his face with them."
Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do you not know that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was not satisfied with Hazrat Ammar's (may Allah be pleased with him) statement?"
Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "Once I was sitting with Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'O Abu Abdur Rahman! Tell me, if a person becomes impure and does not find water, will he remain in the state of janabah for a whole month and will not be allowed to perform tayammum?' He replied: 'No, even if water is not found for a month.' Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'Then what will you do with this verse of Surah Ma'idah in which Allah Almighty says: "If you do not find water, then perform tayammum with clean earth."' Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: 'If people are given this permission, they will start performing tayammum and praying even in slight cold.' Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: 'Do you dislike it only for this reason?' He replied: 'Yes!' Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'Have you not heard this statement of Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me on an errand, and during the journey, ghusl became obligatory upon me.

Abdur Rahman bin Abzi says that a man came to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I am required to perform ghusl but I cannot find water." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Do not perform the prayer." Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Commander of the Faithful! Do you not remember that you and I were in an army, and both of us were required to perform ghusl and could not find water? So you did not perform the prayer, while I rolled in the earth and performed the prayer. Then when we came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I mentioned this incident to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'It would have been sufficient for you to do this.' Saying this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his hands on the earth, blew on them, and then wiped them over his face and hands." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain, ending with Hazrat Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) reply, "Why not, we entrust you to whatever you choose."
Hadith 18333
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Dharr, from Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from his father, that a man came to Umar, and Ibn Ja'far mentioned a narration similar to that of al-Hakam, and added: He said: And Salamah doubted, he said: I do not know whether he said in it: the elbows or to the hands. So Umar said: Yes, we appoint you over what you have undertaken.
