حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ جَدِّ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abdullah ibn Hisham, the grandfather of Zuhrah ibn Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 18046
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَقِيلٍ زُهْرَةُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ ابْنَةُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بَايِعْهُ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هُوَ صَغِيرٌ " فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ ، وَدَعَا لَهُ ، وَكَانَ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ .
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother Zainab bint Humayd took him to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) take his pledge of allegiance." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "He is still a child." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his hand on his head and prayed for him. He used to offer only one goat as sacrifice on behalf of his entire family.
Hadith 18047
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ زُهْرَةَ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِيَدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَأَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا نَفْسِي . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ " . فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : فَلَأَنْتَ الْآنَ وَاللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْآنَ يَا عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was holding the hand of Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) I swear by Allah that you are more beloved to me than everything except my own self." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "None of you can be a complete believer until I become more beloved to him than his own self." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "By Allah! Now you are more beloved to me than my own self." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Umar! Now it is complete."
