حَدِيثُ عَطِيَّةَ السَّعْدِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Atiyyah Al-Sa'di (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17983
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " الْيَدُ الْمُعْطِيَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Atiyyah Sa'di (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: The giving hand is better than the lower (receiving) hand.
Hadith 17984
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ شِبْلٍ وَغَيْرُهُ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا اسْتَشَاطَ السُّلْطَانُ ، تَسَلَّطَ الشَّيْطَانُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Atiyyah Sa'di (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a king laughs loudly without reason, Satan overcomes him.
Hadith 17985
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو وَائِلٍ صَنْعَانِيٌّ مُرَادِيٌّ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : إِذْ أُدْخِلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ ، فَكَلَّمَهُ بِكَلَامٍ أَغْضَبَهُ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا أَنْ غَضِبَ قَامَ ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَيْنَا وَقَدْ تَوَضَّأَ ، فَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ ، وَقَدْ كَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْغَضَبَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ ، وَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ خُلِقَ مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَإِنَّمَا تُطْفَأُ النَّارُ بِالْمَاءِ ، فَإِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ " .
Abu Wa'il says that once we were sitting with 'Urwah bin Muhammad when a man came and said some things that made him angry. When he felt his anger increasing, he got up and left. After a little while, he returned, having performed ablution, and said: My father told me, on the authority of my grandfather who had the honor of sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ), that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Anger is an effect of Satan, and Satan was created from fire, and fire is extinguished with water. Therefore, when any of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution.
