حَدِيثُ رَجُلَيْنِ أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of two men who came to the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 17972
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَي أَبِي ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَخْبَرَاهُ ، أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلَانِهِ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَقَلَّبَ فِيهِمَا الْبَصَرَ ، وَرَآهُمَا جَلْدَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا ، وَلَا حَظَّ فِيهَا لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِبٍ " . .
Two men once came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) requesting charity and donations. The Prophet (peace be upon him) looked up at them and observed them from head to toe, and found them healthy and strong. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "If you wish, I will give to you, but there is no share in it for a wealthy person, nor for one who is strong and able to earn." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
Hadith 17973
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ ، قَالَ فَصَعَّدَ فِيهِمَا ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
Waki‘ narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, from his father, from ‘Ubaydullah, who said: Two men narrated to me that they came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during the Farewell Pilgrimage. He looked intently at them, then mentioned the hadith.
