It is narrated from Safwan bin Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say to Sayyiduna Farooq-e-Azam (may Allah be pleased with him), "I wish I could see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the state of the descent of revelation." Once, he was at Ji'ranah, and the blessed body of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was covered with a cloth which was providing shade over him, and some companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were with him, among whom was Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Meanwhile, a man came who was wearing a cloak and was fragrant with perfume. He came and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) What is your opinion about a person who, after applying perfume well, puts on a cloak and ties the Ihram for Umrah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) thought for a moment and then remained silent, and revelation began to descend upon him. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) signaled to Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) to come. He came and put his head inside the tent and saw that the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was turning red, and for a while, the sound of breathing continued in the same way. Then that state ended, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Where is the person who just asked me about Umrah?" That man was searched for and brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Wash off the perfume you have applied three times, take off the cloak, and perform the rites of your Umrah in the same way as you perform the rites of Hajj."
It is narrated from Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) that my laborer (tenant) had a fight with a man. That man took his hand into his mouth and bit it. When he pulled his hand away, the man's tooth broke. He went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rejected his claim and said, "Should he have left his hand in your mouth so that you could keep chewing it like a bull?"
It is narrated from Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: When my messengers come to you, give them thirty coats of mail and thirty camels (or he mentioned a lesser number). He asked: O Messenger of Allah! Are these to be given as a loan to be returned? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes!
It is narrated from Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was with Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he performed istilam of the Black Stone, and I was near the House of Allah. When I reached the western corner with the Black Stone and raised my hand to perform istilam, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "What are you doing?" I said, "Do you not perform istilam of both these corners?" He said, "Did you not perform tawaf with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" I said, "Why not?" He said, "Did you see the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performing istilam of these two western corners?" I said, "No." He said, "Then is there not a good example for you in the way of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)?" I said, "Why not?" He said, "Then stop it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to send me in military expeditions. Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me on an expedition: a man used to ride on my mount. I asked him to come along, but he said, "I cannot go with you." I asked, "Why?" He said, "First promise me three dinars." I said, "Now I have already left after taking leave from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so I cannot go back to him now. You come along, you will get three dinars." When I returned from jihad, I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
