Hadith of Abdullah ibn Abi Habibah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17944
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا مَجْمَعُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ مِنْ أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، أَنَّ بَعْضَ أَهْلِهِ قَالَ لِجَدِّهِ مِنْ قِبَلِ أُمِّهِ ، وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ : مَا أَدْرَكْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " أَتَانَا فِي مَسْجِدِنَا هَذَا ، فَجِئْتُ فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ فَشَرِبَ ، ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِي وَأَنَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ " . قَالَ : " وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ غُلَامٌ " .
Muhammad bin Ismail says that someone from his household asked his maternal grandfather, that is, Abdullah bin Abi Habibah (may Allah be pleased with him), what incident he remembered regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our mosque, and I came and sat beside him. Water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to drink, and after drinking it, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to me because I was on his right side. On that day, I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes, and at that time I was young.
