22 hadith
Hadith 17897
On one occasion, Hazrat Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! (peace be upon him) Satan comes between me and my prayer and recitation." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The name of that Satan is Khanzab. When you feel this, recite 'A'udhu billah' and spit lightly three times to your left." He says, "I did so, and Allah removed it from me." The previous hadith is narrated through this second chain.

However, whoever prays alone may pray as he wishes.

Abu Nadrah says that once on a Friday we came to Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) so that we could compare the Mushaf with his Mushaf. When the time for Friday approached, he ordered us and we performed ghusl (ritual bath), then perfume was brought to us, which we applied, then we went to the mosque and sat with a man, who began to narrate to us hadiths about the Dajjal. Meanwhile, Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived, and we stood up out of respect for him. He told us to sit and said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that the Muslims will have three cities: one city will be located at the junction of two seas, one in Hira, and one in Sham (Syria). Three times, events of fear and panic will occur among the people, then the Dajjal will emerge and he will defeat the people of the East. Then the first city he will attack will be the one located at the junction of two seas. The people there will be divided into three groups: one group will stand up and say, "Let us go to him and see what he is," the second group will join the villagers, and the third group will move to a nearby city. At that time, there will be seventy thousand people with the Dajjal, who will be wearing green cloaks, and most of his followers will be Jews and women. Then he will turn to the second city, and the people there will also be divided into three groups (as mentioned before). In this way, the Muslims will gather in a valley called Afiq. Then they will send a detachment to confront him, but all of them will be martyred. At that time, the Muslims will be in great hardship, facing severe hunger and extreme distress, to the extent that a man will burn the string of his bow and begin to eat it. While they are in this state, one morning a caller will announce: "O people! Your helper has arrived." The people will say among themselves, "This is the voice of a well-fed man." At that time, near the time of Fajr prayer, Hazrat Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) will descend. The leader of the Muslims (Imam Mahdi, may Allah be pleased with him) will request him, "O Spirit of Allah! Come forward and lead the prayer." He will reply, "The people of this Ummah are leaders over one another, so their leader should lead the prayer." When Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) finishes the prayer, he will take his spear and set out towards the Dajjal. When the Dajjal sees him, he will begin to melt like lead. Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him) will strike his spear between his chest and kill him. His followers will be defeated, and on that day there will be nothing that will hide them behind itself, even the trees will say, "O believer! Here is a disbeliever," and the stones will say, "O believer! Here is a disbeliever." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

Ahsan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Ibn Amir appointed Kilab bin Umayyah as the governor of Aylah. At that time, Hazrat Uthman bin Abi Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) was on his land. He came to Kilab and said, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that during the night there is an hour in which the gates of the heavens are opened, and a caller announces: 'Is there anyone who asks so that I may give to him? Is there anyone who supplicates so that I may accept his supplication? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness for his sins so that I may forgive him?'" The narrator further says that Dawood once went out at night and said, "Whoever asks Allah for anything, Allah will surely grant it to him, except if he is a magician or a tax collector." Upon hearing this hadith, Kilab called for his mount, rode it, went to Ibn Amir, and said to him, "Take back your position." When he asked the reason, Kilab replied, "Hazrat Uthman bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated such a hadith to us."

It is narrated from Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that a delegation of Banu Thaqif came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) accommodated them in the mosque so that their hearts might soften. They presented these conditions before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for accepting Islam: that they would not participate in jihad, would not give zakat, would not perform prayer, and no outsider would be appointed as their leader. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Your condition is accepted that you will not be called for jihad, zakat will not be taken from you (before a year passes or in case you are not liable), and no outsider will be appointed as your leader. 18075. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: There is no good in that religion in which there is no bowing (prayer). 18076. Hazrat Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) Teach me the Qur'an and appoint me as the imam of my people.

After a short while, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his eyes and said: Just now, Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and said that I should place this verse at such and such place in such and such surah: "Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives..."
