حَدِيثُ أَبِي عِنَبَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu 'Anabah al-Khawlani (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17784
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْأَلْهَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عِنَبَةَ ، قَالَ سُرَيْجٌ : وَلَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا " ، عَسَلَهُ ، قِيلَ : وَمَا عَسَلُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Anbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He makes him "honeyed." Someone asked, "What is meant by 'honeyed'?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Allah Almighty opens the doors of righteous deeds for him before his death, then seizes his soul while he is upon that.
Hadith 17785
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ سَبْعَةَ نَفَرٍ خَمْسَةً قَدْ صَحِبُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَاثْنَيْنِ قَدْ أَكَلَا الدَّمَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، وَلَمْ يَصْحَبَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَمَّا اللَّذَانِ لَمْ يَصْحَبَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَأَبُو عِنَبَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو فَاتِحٍ الْأَنْمَارِيُّ .
Shurahbil bin Muslim Khaulani (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I have met seven men, five of whom had the honor of the companionship of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and two men who drank blood during the time of ignorance and did not attain the company of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The names of these last two men are Abu 'Unbah Khaulani and Abu Falij Anmari.
Hadith 17786
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْأَلْهَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ أَبِي عِنَبَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ الشُّهَدَاءُ ، فَذَكَرُوا الْمَبْطُونَ وَالْمَطْعُونَ وَالنُّفَسَاءَ ، فَغَضِبَ أَبُو عِنَبَةَ ، وَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَصْحَابُ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ أُمَنَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ من خَلْقِهِ ، قُتِلُوا أَوْ مَاتُوا " .
Once, in the presence of Hazrat Abu Anbah (may Allah be pleased with him), the mention of martyrs was taking place. People also mentioned those who die from stomach illness, plague, or in the state of postnatal bleeding. Abu Anbah (may Allah be pleased with him) became displeased and said that the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) have informed us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The martyrs of Allah on earth are those who are trustworthy, whether they are killed or die a natural death.
Hadith 17787
حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَلِيحٍ الْبَهْرَانِيُّ حِمْصِيٌّ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ زُرْعَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عِنَبَةَ الْخَوْلَانِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا يَزَالُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَغْرِسُ فِي هَذَا الدِّينِ بِغَرْسٍ يَسْتَعْمِلُهُمْ فِي طَاعَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Unabah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Allah Almighty will always continue to grow plants in this religion whom He uses in acts of obedience to Him.
