Hadith of 'Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17782
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ فُلَانٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا هُوَ يَمْشِي قَدْ أَسْبَلَ إِزَارَهُ ، إِذْ لَحِقَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ بِنَاصِيَةِ نَفْسِهِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ عَبْدُكَ ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ " ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي رَجُلٌ حَمْشُ السَّاقَيْنِ . فَقَالَ : " يَا عَمْرُو ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ ، يَا عَمْرُو " ، وَضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَرْبَعِ أَصَابِعَ مِنْ كَفِّهِ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ رُكْبَةِ عَمْرٍو ، فَقَالَ : " يَا عَمْرُو ، هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ " ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ، ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِأَربع أَصَابعَ من تحت الأربعِ الأُوَلِ ، ثُمَّ قال : " يا عَمْرُو ، هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الإِزَارِ " ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا تَحْتَ الثَّانِيَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا عَمْرُو ، هَذَا مَوْضِعُ الْإِزَارِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Amr Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was going somewhere, his lower garment was hanging below his ankles, and during this time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came near him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was holding his forehead and saying, "O Allah! I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) my shins are very thin." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Amr! Allah has created everything in the best manner." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his four fingers below Amr's knee and said, "Amr! This is the place to tie the lower garment." Then placing his hand below that, he struck four fingers and said, "Amr! This is the place to tie the lower garment." Then for the third time, placing four fingers below that, he said the same sentence.
