It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade plucking the hair of horses’ tails, manes, and forelocks, and said: Their tails are a fly-whisk for them, their manes are a means of protection from the cold, and goodness has been placed in their forelocks until the Day of Resurrection.

It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Any Muslim whose three minor children die, they will meet him at all eight gates of Paradise, so that he may enter Paradise through whichever gate he wishes."

Rather, we will say that you and your Lord go and fight, we too will be among those who fight alongside you."

It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and began asking questions about the Pond of Kawthar and Paradise. Then he asked, "Will there be fruits in Paradise?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes! And there will also be a tree named Tuba there." He asked, "To which tree on earth can you compare it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "There is no tree on your earth that can be compared to it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Have you ever been to Syria?" He said, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There is a tree similar to it in Syria, which is called the walnut tree. It stands on a vine and spreads out from above." He asked, "How thick is its root?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "If a young camel from your household sets out, it will not be able to circle its root until its bones begin to creak from old age." (This refers to the tree of Paradise.) The Bedouin asked, "Will there be grapes in Paradise?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes!" He asked, "How thick will its clusters be?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "As much as the distance a speckled crow flies continuously for a month without stopping." He asked, "How thick will one grape be?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Has your father ever slaughtered a very large ram from among his goats?" He said, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then did he skin it and give the skin to your mother and say, 'Make a bucket out of it'?" He said, "Yes!" Then he said, "In that case, a single grape will suffice for me and all my family." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes! And it will suffice for all your family members as well."

It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings be upon him) What happened to you in the beginning?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My wet nurse was from Banu Sa'd bin Bakr. One day, I went out with one of her sons among the goats. We had not taken any provisions with us, so I said, "Brother, go to mother and bring some provisions." He went, and I stayed with the goats. Meanwhile, two white birds like vultures came and began to ask each other, "Is this the one?" The other replied in the affirmative. So they quickly approached me, seized me, laid me on my back, and split open my stomach. Then they took out my heart and split it, and from it they removed two black clotted pieces of blood. One said to the other, "Bring me cold water," and they washed my stomach with it. Then he asked for snow water and washed my heart with it. Then he asked for tranquility (sakinah) and scattered it into my heart. Then he said to the other, "Now sew him up," so he stitched me up and placed the seal of Prophethood. After that, one of them said to the other, "Place him on one side of the scale and a thousand men from his Ummah on the other side." Suddenly, I saw a thousand men above me, and I feared they might fall upon me. Then he said, "If he is weighed against his entire Ummah, his side will still be heavier." Then both of them left me, and I was overcome with intense fear. I went to my foster mother and informed her of what had happened to me. Upon hearing this, she became frightened, fearing that something might have affected me, and said, "I seek Allah's protection for you." Then she prepared her camel, seated me on the saddle, mounted behind me herself, and we traveled until we reached my mother. She said to my mother, "I wish to return my trust and responsibility." Then she narrated the incident that had happened to me, but my mother was not overawed by it and said, "I saw a light emanating from myself by which the palaces of Syria were illuminated."
Hadith 17649
It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person is given the opportunity to spend every single moment from the day of his birth until his death in old age in the pleasure of Allah, even then on the Day of Resurrection he will consider it insignificant and trivial.
Hadith 17650
It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person is given the opportunity to spend every single moment from the day of his birth until his death in old age in the pleasure of Allah, even then on the Day of Resurrection he will consider it little and insignificant, and he will wish to be sent back to the world so that he may attain more reward and recompense.
Hadith 17651
It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who die in the plague and the martyrs will come. The people of the plague will say, "We are martyrs." The Lord will say, "Look at their wounds. If their wounds are fragrant like the wounds of the martyrs, then they will be counted among the martyrs and will be with them." When it will be seen, their wounds will resemble the wounds of the martyrs.

Yazid Dhu Misr says that once I went to Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Abu al-Waleed! I went out in search of a sacrificial animal, but I could not find any animal except one whose tooth was broken. What is your opinion?" He replied, "Why did you not bring it to me?" I said, "Subhan Allah! The sacrifice would be valid from your side but not from mine?" He said, "Yes! Because you have doubt, and I have no doubt. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only forbade Musaffarah, the horned animal whose horn is uprooted, Bukha’a, Mushee’ah, and Kasra’." Musaffarah means the animal whose ear is cut from the root and its hole is visible. Bukha’a means the animal whose eye is defective. Mushee’ah means the animal that, due to weakness and helplessness, cannot walk with the goats. Kasra’ means the animal whose bone is broken and cannot walk straight. The previous hadith is narrated from this second chain.

It is narrated from Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Killing is of three types. One is the Muslim man who fights in the way of Allah with his life and wealth; when he faces the enemy, he is killed while fighting. He is the martyr who will boast under the Throne of Allah in Allah’s tent, and the Prophets will have superiority over him only because of the rank of Prophethood. The second is the Muslim man who is burdened with sins and slips; he fights in the way of Allah with his life and wealth; when he faces the enemy, he is killed while fighting. This person will be cleansed of sins and slips because the sword wipes away sins, and he will be given the choice to enter through any of the gates of Paradise, for Paradise has eight gates and Hell has seven gates, some of which are more virtuous than others. And the third is the hypocrite man who fights in the way of Allah with his life and wealth; when he faces the enemy, he is killed while fighting. This person will go to Hell because the sword does not wipe away hypocrisy. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

Yamr ibn Bishr narrated to us, Abdullah narrated to us, Safwan ibn Amr informed us that Abu al-Muthanna al-Mulayki narrated to him that he heard Utbah ibn Abd al-Sulami, who was among the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrating from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Killing is of three kinds," and he mentioned its meaning.
Hadith 17659
Hazrat Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) is better than me, and Hazrat Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that Utbah is better than me. He had presented himself in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one year before me.
