Hadith 17609
It is narrated from Hazrat Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there we began to discuss Paradise and Hell, and it felt as if we were seeing them with our own eyes. Then when I returned to my family and children, I began to laugh and engage in amusement. Suddenly, I remembered what we had just been discussing. So I left the house, and on the way I met Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). I said, "I have become a hypocrite," (and I told him the whole matter). He said, "We do the same." Then I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned my condition. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Hanzalah! If you were to remain always in the same state as you are when you are with me, then the angels would begin to shake hands with you in your beds and on your paths. Hanzalah! There is a time for this and a time for that."
Hadith 17610
It is narrated from Hazrat Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for a battle. We passed by a woman who had been killed by the vanguard. People had gathered there. The people made way for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped by her body and said, "She would not have participated in the fighting." Then he said to a companion (may Allah be pleased with him), "Go to Khalid and tell him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you not to kill children and laborers." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
