حَدِیث اَبِی نَملَةَ الاَنصَارِیِّ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of Abu Namalah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17225
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَمْلَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا نَمْلَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، هَلْ تَتَكَلَّمُ هَذِهِ الْجَنَازَةُ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ " ، قَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ : أَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّهَا تَتَكَلَّمُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا حَدَّثَكُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ فَلَا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ وَلَا تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ ، وَقُولُوا : آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ حَقًّا لَمْ تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ بَاطِلًا لَمْ تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ " . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Namla Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was sitting with the Prophet (peace be upon him) when a Jew came and said, "O Muhammad! Can this dead person speak?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Allah knows best." The Jew said, "I bear witness that he can speak." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "When the People of the Book relate something to you, neither confirm it nor deny it, but rather say: 'We believe in Allah, His Books, and His Messengers.' Lest it be that what they say is true and you deny it, or it is false and you confirm it." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
Hadith 17226
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي نَمْلَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا أَنَا جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " وَكِتَابِهِ ".
Narrated to us ‘Uthman ibn ‘Umar, he said: Narrated to us Yunus, from al-Zuhri, he said: Informed me Ibn Abi Namla, that his father narrated to him, he said: While I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, a man from the Jews came to him, and he mentioned the like of it, except that he said: "and His Book."
