حَدِیث عمَرَ الجمَعِیِّ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of Umar al-Jam'i (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 17217
حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي بَحِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جُبَيْرُ بْنُ نُفَيْرٍ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ الْجُمَعِيّ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ " ، فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ : مَا اسْتَعْمَلَهُ ؟ قَالَ : " يَهْدِيهِ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى الْعَمَلِ الصَّالِحِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar Jami’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When Allah intends good for a servant, He uses him before his death.” Someone asked, “What is meant by ‘uses him’?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah grants him the ability to do a righteous deed before his death, then takes his soul in that state.”
