Hadith 17171
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When any one of you loves his brother, he should inform him."
Hadith 17172
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib, may Allah be pleased with him, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to take care of the guest for one night. If the guest remains deprived in the courtyard of his host until morning, then the host has become indebted to him; if he wishes, he may repay it, and if he wishes, he may leave it."

حَدَّثَنَا
زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَكَّائِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ
عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
" لَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ وَاجِبَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ، فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ بِفِنَائِهِ مَحْرُومًا ، كَانَ دَيْنًا لَهُ عَلَيْهِ ، إِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَاهُ ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to take care of the guest for one night; if the guest remains deprived in the courtyard of his host until morning, then the host has become indebted to him—he may repay it if he wishes, or he may forgo it."
Hadith 17174

حَرِيزٌ ، عَنْ
عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْفٍ الْجُرَشِيِّ ، عَنِ
الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ الْكِنْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
" أَلَا إِنِّي أُوتِيتُ الْكِتَابَ وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ ، أَلَا إِنِّي أُوتِيتُ الْقُرْآنَ وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ ، لَا يُوشِكُ رَجُلٌ يَنْثَنِي شَبْعَانًا عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يَقُولُ : عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْقُرْآنِ ، فَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ حَلَالٍ فَأَحِلُّوهُ ، وَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ فَحَرِّمُوهُ ، أَلَا لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ لَحْمُ الْحِمَارِ الْأَهْلِيِّ ، وَلَا كُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ ، أَلَا وَلَا لُقَطَةٌ مِنْ مَالِ مُعَاهَدٍ إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْتَغْنِيَ عَنْهَا صَاحِبُهَا ، وَمَنْ نَزَلَ بِقَوْمٍ ، فَعَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَقْرُوهُمْ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَقْرُوهُمْ ، فَلَهُمْ أَنْ يُعْقِبُوهُمْ بِمِثْلِ قِرَاهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Behold! I have been given the Noble Qur’an and something like it along with it. Behold! I have been given the Noble Qur’an and something like it along with it. Behold! Soon a man will come who, reclining on his couch, will say: ‘Hold fast to the Qur’an; whatever you find in it as lawful, consider it lawful, and whatever you find in it as unlawful, consider it unlawful.’ Behold! The meat of domesticated donkeys is not lawful for you, nor any predatory animal with fangs, nor is the lost property of a dhimmi lawful, unless its owner has no need of it. And whoever becomes a guest with a people, it is incumbent upon them to host him. If they do not host him, he is permitted to treat them in the same manner regarding hospitality.”
Hadith 17175
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dies leaving a debt behind, he is under the responsibility of Allah and His Messenger, and whoever dies leaving wealth, it will belong to his heirs. And the maternal uncle is the heir of the one who has no heir, and I am the heir of the one who has no heir; I am his heir and I will pay his blood money on his behalf."
Hadith 17176
حَدَّثَنَا
حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
شُعْبَةُ فَذَكَرَهُ ، وَقَالَ : عَنِ
الْمِقْدَامِ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated from this second hadith.
Hadith 17177
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Measure the grain, blessing will be placed in it for you."
Hadith 17178
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a Muslim becomes a guest with a people but is deprived of his right, then it is obligatory upon every Muslim to help him, until he receives from the hosts' crops and wealth the due for his hospitality for that night."
Hadith 17179
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever you feed yourself is charity, whatever you feed your children is also charity, whatever you feed your wife is also charity, and whatever you feed your servant is also charity."
Hadith 17180
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbidding striking animals on their cheeks, and he said that Allah Almighty has made these animals a support for you as sticks and whips.
Hadith 17181
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: No one has ever eaten food better in the sight of Allah than that which he has earned with his own hands.
Hadith 17182
حَدَّثَنَا
إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ،
وَالْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ
بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ
خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنِ
الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ الْكِنْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
" إِنَّ لِلشَّهِيدِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ الْحَكَمُ : سِتَّ خِصَالٍ : أَنْ يُغْفَرَ لَهُ فِي أَوَّلِ دَفْعَةٍ مِنْ دَمِهِ ، وَيَرَى قَالَ الْحَكَمُ : وَيُرَى مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَيُحَلَّى حُلَّةَ الْإِيمَانِ ، وَيُزَوَّجَ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ ، وَيُجَارَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَيَأْمَنَ مِنَ الْفَزَعِ الْأَكْبَرِ قَالَ الْحَكَمُ : يَوْمَ الْفَزَعِ الْأَكْبَرِ وَيُوضَعَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ تَاجُ الْوَقَارِ ، الْيَاقُوتَةُ مِنْهُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا ، وَيُزَوَّجَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ زَوْجَةً مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ ، وَيُشَفَّعَ فِي سَبْعِينَ إِنْسَانًا مِنْ أَقَارِبِهِ " . .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: In the sight of Allah, the martyr has many ranks. With the very first drop of his blood, he is forgiven; his place in Paradise is shown to him; he is protected from the punishment of the grave and from the greatest terror (the great fear); a crown of dignity is placed on his head, each ruby of which is better than the world and whatever is in it; he is married to seventy-two houris with beautiful eyes; and his intercession is accepted on behalf of seventy people from among his relatives.
Hadith 17183

Hadith 17184
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "Allah Almighty enjoins you to treat your close relatives with kindness, step by step according to their degree of closeness."
Hadith 17185
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade men from using saddles made of silk, gold, and leopard skins.
Hadith 17186
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The son of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls that keep his back straight. But if he must (eat more), then one third for food, one third for drink, and one third for breathing.
Hadith 17187
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "Allah enjoins you to treat your mothers well, your fathers well, and, in order of closeness, your relatives well."
Hadith 17188
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that once water for ablution was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He performed ablution with it, washed both hands three times, washed his face three times, washed both arms three times each, then rinsed his mouth three times and put water into his nose three times, then wiped his head and the outer and inner parts of his ears, and washed both feet three times each.
Hadith 17189
حَدَّثَنَا
حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا
بَقِيَّةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا
بَحِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ
خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، قَالَ : وَفَدَ الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ ، إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لِلْمِقْدَامِ : أَعَلِمْتَ أَنَّ
الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ تُوُفِّيَ ؟ فَرَجَّعَ الْمِقْدَامُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ : أَتُرَاهَا مُصِيبَةً ؟ فَقَالَ : وَلِمَ لَا أَرَاهَا مُصِيبَةً وَقَدْ وَضَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حِجْرِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " هَذَا مِنِّي وَحُسَيْنٌ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ " ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا.
Once, Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Amr bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him), "Are you aware that Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) has passed away?" Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return." Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Do you consider this a great calamity?" He replied, "Why should I not consider it a calamity, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him in his lap and said, 'He is from me, and Husayn is from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).'"
Hadith 17190
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: No one has ever eaten any food better in the sight of Allah than that which he has earned with his own hands.
Hadith 17191
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever you feed yourself is charity, whatever you feed your children is also charity, whatever you feed your wife is also charity, and whatever you feed your servant is also charity."
Hadith 17192
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make sure to eat the pre-dawn meal (suhoor), for it is a blessed meal."
Hadith 17193
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the meat of domesticated donkeys and every predatory animal that hunts with its fangs.
Hadith 17194
حَدَّثَنَا
عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ،
وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ
الْحَسَنِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ زَيْدٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ
الْمِقْدَامَ بْنَ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ ، يَقُولُ : حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ أَشْيَاءَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ :
" يُوشِكُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُكَذِّبَنِي وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ يُحَدَّثُ بِحَدِيثِي ، فَيَقُولُ : بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ ، فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَلَالٍ اسْتَحْلَلْنَاهُ ، وَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ حَرَّمْنَاهُ ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ مَا حَرَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the day of Khaybar declared several things to be forbidden, then said: "Soon a man will come who, sitting on his couch, will say: 'Hold fast to the Qur'an; consider only what you find in it to be lawful as lawful, and what you find in it to be unlawful as unlawful.' Beware! Just as Allah has declared some things unlawful, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has also declared some things unlawful."
Hadith 17195
حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ،
وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا
سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ
مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنِ
الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنِ
الْمِقْدَامِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ ، قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ : الْمِقْدَامُ أَبُو كَرِيمَةَ الشَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
" لَلَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ : حَقٌّ وَاجِبَةٌ ، فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ بِفِنَائِهِ ، فَهُوَ دَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَى ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib رضي الله عنه that he heard the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم say: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to take care of the guest for one night. If the guest remains deprived in the courtyard of his host until morning, then the host has become indebted to him; he may repay it if he wishes, or he may forgo it."
Hadith 17196
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma’di Karib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “It is obligatory upon every Muslim to take care of the guest for one night; if the guest remains deprived in the courtyard of his host till morning, then the host has become indebted to him—he may repay it if he wishes, or he may forgo it.”
Hadith 17197
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a Muslim becomes a guest with a people but is deprived of his right, then it is obligatory upon every Muslim to help him, until he receives from the hosts' crops and wealth in return for the hospitality of that night."

Hadith 17201
حَدَّثَنَا
أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا
أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ
لِمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ جَارِيَةٌ تَبِيعُ اللَّبَنَ ، وَيَقْبِضُ الْمِقْدَامُ الثَّمَنَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ أَتَبِيعُ اللَّبَنَ وَتَقْبِضُ الثَّمَنَ ! فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَمَا بَأْسٌ بِذَلِكَ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ :
" لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ لَا يَنْفَعُ فِيهِ إِلَّا الدِّينَارُ وَالدِّرْهَمُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave girl who used to sell milk, and the money that was obtained, Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) would take. Someone said to him: Subhan Allah! She sells the milk and you take the money? He replied: Yes! So what is wrong in that? I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that a time will come upon the people in which nothing will benefit except dinar and dirham.
Hadith 17202
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: He heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to take care of the guest for one night; if the guest remains deprived in the courtyard of his host until morning, then the host has become indebted to him—he may repay it if he wishes, or he may forgo it."

عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ
رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ
أَبِي عَامِرٍ الْهَوْزَنِيِّ ، عَنِ
الْمِقْدَامِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ :
" مَنْ تَرَكَ كَلًّا فَإِلَيَّ " ، قَالَ : وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ : " إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِوَرَثَتِهِ ، وَأَنَا وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ ، أَعْقِلُ عَنْهُ وَأَرِثُهُ ، وَالْخَالُ وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ ، يَعْقِلُ عَنْهُ ، وَيَرِثُهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dies leaving a debt behind, he is under the responsibility of Allah and His Messenger. Hadith 17205
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Qadeem! You have succeeded if you die in such a state that you are neither a ruler, nor a tax collector, nor a chieftain."
