Hadith of a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 17013
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ هُوُ ابْنُ سُوَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ ، عَنْ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِي حَاجَةٌ ، فَرَأَى عَلَيَّ خَلُوقًا ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَاغْسِلْهُ " ، فَغَسَلْتُهُ ، ثُمَّ عُدْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَاغْسِلْهُ " ، فَذَهَبْتُ فَوَقَعْتُ فِي بِئْرٍ ، فَأَخَذْتُ مُسْتَقَة فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَتَبَّعُهُ ، ثُمَّ عُدْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " حَاجَتُكَ " .
It is narrated from the mentioned companion, may Allah be pleased with him, that once I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for some of my work. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw that I had applied a perfume called "Khaluq," so he said: Go, wash it off and come back. So I washed it off and presented myself. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, again said: Go, wash it off and come back. So this time I jumped into a well and started scraping it off with a comb. When I presented myself again, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Now tell me your need.
