مَيْمُونَةَ ، وَكَانَ فِي حَجْرِهَا
It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he entered the house of Ummul Momineen Hazrat Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her)—who was his maternal aunt—along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She placed before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the meat of a lizard, which had been brought from Najd by Umm Hafeed bint Harith, who was married to a man from Banu Ja’far. It was the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would not eat anything until he had asked what it was. So, one of his wives said, “Why don’t you tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what he is eating?” Upon this, they informed him that it was the meat of a lizard. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left it. Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) says, “I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Is it forbidden?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “No! But it is not the food of my people, so I prefer to be cautious about it.” So I pulled it towards myself and began to eat it, and meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept watching me.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) that once there was an argument between me and Ammar bin Yasir over something, and I said something harsh to him. Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to complain to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) also arrived there and saw that he was complaining about him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so his tone became even harsher. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and did not say anything. Then Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you not see him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and said, "Whoever is hostile to Ammar, Allah is hostile to him, and whoever hates Ammar, Allah also hates him." Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when I left from there, nothing was dearer to me than to please Ammar, so I met him and he was pleased.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) that when I tasted the hills and honey of Syria, the Commander of the Faithful wrote me a letter in which he ordered me to go towards India. In those days, we used to refer to Basra as India. I did not consider it appropriate to advance towards it at that time. A man stood up and said to me, "O Abu Sulaiman! Fear Allah, the trials have appeared." Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "While Ibn Khattab is still alive? The trials will appear after him, when people will be in Dhi Bilyan, which is the name of a place. At that time, a man will wish that he could find a place where he would not be afflicted by the trials and evils as people are afflicted in them, but he will not be able to find such a place. And those days which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned will come before the Day of Judgment, they will be the days of Harj (days of killing and bloodshed). Therefore, we seek refuge in Allah that time does not come upon us or you."
