Hadith 997

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي ، قَالَ : أُخْبِرْتُ ، عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا رَكَعَ لَوْ وُضِعَ قَدَحٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ لَمْ يُهَرَاقْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform rukū‘ (bowing) in such a manner that if a bowl filled with water were placed on the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) back, it would not fall.
