حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قََالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ : " لاَ تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلاَمِ ، وَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ ، فَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the People of the Book: When you meet them on the road, do not initiate the greeting of peace (salaam) with them, and force them to the narrowest part of the road.
